Miracle Doctor Chapter 941
After leaving the tomb,
Master Longbrow instructed Tang Fei, “Once you’ve retrieved the top-grade white jade coffin, blow up the tomb.”
“Why is that?” Tang Fei asked, puzzled.
Master Longbrow said, “This is the ancestral tomb of the Long family. There’s no need to keep it. I intend to sever the Long family’s ancestral vein and cut off their fortune.”
“Old Tang, do as the old man says,” Ye Qiu said. “If anyone from the Forbidden City asks later, just say it was the old man’s doing.”
Master Longbrow glared, “Little brat, don’t set me up like that.”
Ye Qiu chuckled, “Just kidding, don’t take it seriously.”
Tang Fei immediately said, “Master, there’s one more thing I need your help with.”
Master Longbrow asked, “You mean those seven century-old pine trees?”
Tang Fei nodded.
“A small matter. I’ll deal with them now,” Master Longbrow said, striding quickly to the seven pine trees and tossing out seven flame talismans in succession.
Soon, the seven pine trees were engulfed in a sea of fire.
“All done here, little brat. Let’s go handle the real business!” Master Longbrow said.
“Mm,” Ye Qiu responded, preparing to leave with Master Longbrow.
Tang Fei asked, “Ye Qiu, what are you and the Master going to do? Can I help with anything?”
Before Ye Qiu could answer, Master Longbrow said, “What we’re doing next doesn’t require your help. Just make sure to deliver that top-grade white jade coffin to Dragon Tiger Mountain.”
Ye Qiu also said, “Old Tang, I’m going to search for a thousand-year-old spiritual herb. No need for your help.”
Uncle Mountain Guard asked, “Mr. Ye, shall I go with you?”
Before Ye Qiu could speak, Master Longbrow gave him a look. Ye Qiu understood and said, “Old man, you stay here. If Old Tang needs you, lend him a hand.”
“Once things are settled here, pack up and come find me in Jiangzhou.”
Uncle Mountain Guard respectfully agreed, “Yes, Mr. Ye.”
“Old Tang, we’re off. Take care,” Ye Qiu said, patting Tang Fei’s shoulder before disappearing into the forest with Master Longbrow.
On the way,
Master Longbrow asked, “Little brat, are you wondering why I didn’t let you bring that old man along?”
Ye Qiu said, “You must have your reasons.”
Master Longbrow nodded slightly, “One can never be too cautious. You’ve only just taken that old man under your wing. Be careful and don’t tell him everything.”
Ye Qiu was surprised, “You suspect him?”
Master Longbrow shook his head, “Not exactly suspicion, but what we’re doing is of great importance. The fewer people who know, the better.”
“This matter concerns the thousand-year fortune of our Dragon Tiger Mountain. We can’t be careless. Unless I trust someone completely, I won’t let them know.”
“Besides, his skills are a bit weak. If we run into danger, we’d have to look after him. No need to bring a burden.”
Ye Qiu grew curious and asked, “Old man, what exactly are you here in the Northeast to do?”
Master Longbrow gave a mysterious smile, “Heh, I’m not telling you just yet.”
Damn it, playing coy with me, hmph!
Ye Qiu snorted and asked, “Where to next?”
“Don’t ask so much. Just follow me,” Master Longbrow said, leading the way.
Ye Qiu followed behind.
The two moved swiftly through the forest.
They were now in the restricted area of Changbai Mountain, a primal forest with towering ancient trees all around.
As they walked,
Master Longbrow, who was leading the way, suddenly stopped.
“Why’d you stop?” Ye Qiu asked.
Master Longbrow turned back, grinning at Ye Qiu, “Little brat, fancy some tiger whip?”
Ye Qiu looked ahead and saw, fifty metres away, a sturdy ancient tree. At its base lay a Northeast tiger, fast asleep.
The tiger was massive, about two metres long, covered in black stripes, with a large, round head and several black horizontal stripes on its forehead, resembling the character for “king.”
“What, you want to kill it?” Ye Qiu asked.
Master Longbrow laughed, “I’ve lived this long and never tried wild tiger whip. They say it’s great for virility when soaked in liquor. Want to give it a go?”
Ye Qiu snapped, “Try your head! Northeast tigers are protected animals. If you kill one, you’ll face the firing squad.”
Master Longbrow shrugged, “In these deep woods, who’d know if we killed it?”
“I’m telling you, a tiger’s body is full of treasures.”
“Tiger skin, tiger bones, tiger meat, tiger whip, tsk tsk tsk…”
Master Longbrow smacked his lips, practically drooling.
“You’d better drop that idea,” Ye Qiu said coldly. “There’s a saying: the gods are watching. As a man of the Dao, don’t kill recklessly, lest it harms your cultivation.”
“Yo, looking out for me now? You’ve got a conscience, kid,” Master Longbrow said with a laugh. “You think I don’t know Northeast tigers are protected? I was just joking, but…”
“But what?” Ye Qiu asked.
Master Longbrow said, “As the saying goes, where tigers dwell, there’s bound to be treasure.”
“This tiger’s resting here. I bet there’s something valuable under that tree.”
“Little brat, believe me?”
Ye Qiu didn’t buy Master Longbrow’s nonsense and scoffed, “What treasure could there be?”
“Let’s go see for ourselves,” Master Longbrow said, striding toward the tiger.
Ye Qiu followed.
When they were about twenty metres from the tree, the sleeping tiger suddenly stood up, glaring at Master Longbrow and Ye Qiu with its big eyes, letting out a roar.
“Roar—”
The sound echoed.
But it didn’t faze Ye Qiu or Master Longbrow.
“Beast, get lost,” Master Longbrow barked.
The tiger seemed provoked, its eyes glaring fiercely at Master Longbrow. It leaned forward slightly, claws digging into the ground, growling low.
“What, you want to take me on? I’m not looking down on you, but I could crush you with one hand.”
Master Longbrow released a powerful aura, trying to scare the tiger off.
But the tiger wasn’t intimidated. It kept growling and even started stepping closer to Master Longbrow.
“Looks like you need a lesson to know your place.”
Master Longbrow threw out a thunder talisman.
Boom!
A bolt of lightning as thick as a teacup struck in front of the tiger.
Instantly, the tiger, like a startled rabbit, bolted into the forest.
“Coward.”
Master Longbrow cursed, walked to the tree, and grinned, “Little brat, look, what’s that?”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 942
Ye Qiu looked in the direction Master Longbrow pointed, his face full of joy.
“A hundred-year-old ginseng!”
At the base of the ancient tree grew a ginseng plant.
Its stem resembled a small tree, with dense leaves and bright red berries.
From Ye Qiu’s knowledge, ginseng stems were usually thirty to sixty centimetres tall, but this one was over a metre high.
“Little brat, I wasn’t wrong, was I? Where tigers dwell, there’s bound to be treasure,” Master Longbrow said smugly.
“You got lucky this time,” Ye Qiu said, preparing to dig up the ginseng.
Unexpectedly, Master Longbrow stepped forward, blocking Ye Qiu’s path.
“Old man, what are you up to?” Ye Qiu asked, his expression darkening.
Master Longbrow grinned, “I found this ginseng, so technically, it’s mine.”
“But since you like it, I’ll do you a favour and let you have it.”
“However, little brat, you’d better not fight me for that white jade coffin.”
Master Longbrow was still thinking about the top-grade white jade coffin.
“Stop yapping and get out of my way.”
Ye Qiu pushed Master Longbrow aside and started digging up the ginseng.
The Northeast was full of black soil, soft and easy to dig, but even so, it took Ye Qiu over ten minutes to unearth the ginseng.
When the entire plant was revealed, Ye Qiu couldn’t hide his excitement, his face beaming with delight.
“Who’d have thought, a five-hundred-year-old ginseng! I’ve really struck gold this time!”
Master Longbrow looked at the ginseng, thicker than Ye Qiu’s arm, and felt a pang of regret.
He’d known it was at least a hundred years old, but never imagined it was five hundred.
“At today’s market price, a five-hundred-year-old ginseng is worth over a hundred million. I just gave it away. What an idiot I am.”
Master Longbrow’s regret was so deep he wanted to slap himself.
Ye Qiu stored the ginseng and looked at the glum Master Longbrow, smiling, “Old man, next time you spot treasure, let me dig it up again.”
That comment made Master Longbrow’s face turn green with anger.
“Damn it, you got a bargain and still act smug. Shameless.”
Master Longbrow cursed and kept walking.
They’d only gone a few dozen steps when a shrill scream echoed from the forest ahead.
“Screech—”
Master Longbrow paused, “Sounds like something’s happening up there.”
“Let’s check it out,” Ye Qiu said, vanishing in a flash.
Master Longbrow followed close behind.
Soon, they saw the same Northeast tiger from before.
But now, it was tearing into a baby monkey. The monkey was tiny, likely only a few months old, unable to resist the adult tiger’s attack.
Nearby, a dozen or so monkeys were frantically circling, too scared to approach.
Ye Qiu was about to rush in to save the baby monkey, but Master Longbrow stopped him.
“Survival of the fittest, the law of nature. Don’t interfere,” Master Longbrow said.
Ye Qiu retorted, “Law or no law, I only know that if I don’t act, that baby monkey’s done for.”
Master Longbrow countered, “Little brat, you can save it once, but can you save it twice?”
“I don’t care about that. Since I’m here, it means its life isn’t over yet,” Ye Qiu said, raising his hand to release a sword qi.
Swoosh!
The sword qi grazed the tiger’s head.
Startled, the tiger let go of the baby monkey and glared at Ye Qiu.
“What are you staring at? Scram!”
Ye Qiu’s deep shout rumbled like thunder.
But the Northeast tiger, king of the forest, seemed enraged by Ye Qiu.
“Roar—”
It let out a bellow, shaking the forest.
Its eyes locked on Ye Qiu, pacing back and forth, filled with fierce intent.
“Didn’t hear me? If you don’t leave, don’t blame me for getting rough.”
Ye Qiu raised his hand, sword qi swirling at his fingertips.
The tiger leapt away, disappearing into the forest.
Master Longbrow scoffed, “King of the forest, my foot. Scared off twice, what a disgrace.”
“It’s a beast, not a fool. It knows it’ll get hurt if it stays,” Ye Qiu said, walking toward the baby monkey.
The dozen or so monkeys nearby watched Ye Qiu, chattering “screech screech,” their eyes wary.
Ye Qiu could tell they were worried he’d harm the baby monkey.
“I mean it no harm, don’t worry.”
Ye Qiu reached the baby monkey and saw it was badly injured from the tiger’s bites, bleeding from multiple wounds.
The monkey was weak, lying motionless on the ground, its eyes looking at Ye Qiu with both pity and fear.
“You’re lucky you ran into me, or you’d be dead.”
Ye Qiu crouched down, placed his palm on the monkey’s head, and channelled a wisp of innate true qi into it.
Instantly, the monkey’s spirits lifted, and it looked at Ye Qiu with gratitude.
“Don’t move. I’ll treat your wounds.”
Ye Qiu took out golden needles, inserted a few into the monkey’s body, and drew several blood-stopping talismans.
About three minutes later,
The monkey’s wounds had healed.
“Your injuries are gone.”
Ye Qiu withdrew the needles and stood up.
The baby monkey quickly got up, hopped a few times, as if checking its injuries.
Moments later,
It suddenly knelt before Ye Qiu, clasping its paws and bowing, as if thanking him.
Ye Qiu was stunned, then sighed, “All things have spirits. Who’d have thought a monkey would know gratitude?”
Master Longbrow said, “Monkeys are among the smartest beasts.”
Ye Qiu patted the baby monkey’s head, advising, “The forest is full of predators. You got lucky meeting me today, but you might not be so lucky next time. Be careful and don’t end up as food.”
The monkey seemed to understand, nodding its little head repeatedly.
“Go back!” Ye Qiu waved.
The baby monkey reluctantly returned to its troop, and in a flash, the group vanished into the forest.
Only Ye Qiu and Master Longbrow remained.
“Old man, which way now?” Ye Qiu asked.
“Keep going forward,” Master Longbrow said, but then a chorus of “screech screech” came from the forest.
Soon, the same troop of monkeys returned.
The baby monkey, holding a bamboo tube, respectfully offered it to Ye Qiu.
“For me?” Ye Qiu asked.
The monkey nodded vigorously.
Ye Qiu took the bamboo tube and found it stuffed tightly with bamboo leaves.
He pulled the leaves out, and his face lit up with shock, “This is…”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 943
Ye Qiu’s face was filled with shock.
As he pulled out the bamboo leaves, a rich aroma of wine wafted from the bamboo tube.
Looking inside, he saw the liquor was greenish, brimming with the scent of kiwi.
“Is this monkey wine?”
Without hesitation, Ye Qiu drank the entire contents of the tube in one gulp.
The wine slid down his throat, sweet and smooth.
Ye Qiu had tasted fifty-year-old vintage Maotai and thirty-year-old premium Wuliangye, both top-tier liquors, but compared to this monkey wine, their aroma and taste were leagues apart.
Moreover, with Ye Qiu’s knowledge of wine, he could tell this monkey wine was at least a hundred years old.
He licked his lips, still craving more.
“Little brat, save some for me!” Master Longbrow, slow to react, shouted and quickly snatched the bamboo tube from Ye Qiu’s hand, tilting it to his mouth.
One drop…
Two drops…
Gone!
Master Longbrow, a wine enthusiast, tasted a few drops and pointed at Ye Qiu, cursing, “You drank all this fine wine by yourself? I could kill you!”
Ye Qiu laughed, “Kill me? Go ahead and try!”
“Try? I’ll show you!” Master Longbrow rolled up his sleeves, looking ready to fight Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu laughed and cried, “Old man, is our friendship worth less than a bit of wine?”
“You know nothing!” Master Longbrow said, “A hundred-year-old monkey wine is a rare treasure.”
“Especially wild-brewed monkey wine like this, its taste and aroma make it a divine elixir.”
“Plus, drinking monkey wine has many benefits, like relieving fatigue, boosting vitality, and enhancing cultivation…”
Just then, Ye Qiu felt his pores open, his exhaustion swept away.
He felt refreshed and invigorated.
“Old man, you’re right. Monkey wine is amazing,” Ye Qiu exclaimed.
“Damn it, you heartless little bastard, not leaving me any. I could tear you apart,” Master Longbrow fumed.
Ye Qiu handed the bamboo tube back to the baby monkey and asked, “Got any more monkey wine?”
The baby monkey nodded eagerly.
“Can you give me a bit more?” Ye Qiu asked.
The baby monkey nodded, stood up, grabbed Ye Qiu’s trouser leg, and gestured for him to follow.
“Old man, stop sulking. Let’s go drink,” Ye Qiu said, following the monkeys deeper into the forest.
Soon, a strong kiwi scent filled the air.
After walking a few hundred metres,
Ye Qiu saw a vast patch of wild kiwi vines.
The fruits were abundant.
Each kiwi was as big as a dinner plate, weighing at least two or three pounds.
As everyone knows, market kiwis, even the largest, are only about the size of a goose egg.
Wild kiwis are even smaller, roughly the size of a chicken egg.
Ye Qiu was astonished, “Why are these kiwis so big?”
Master Longbrow answered, “As I said before, Changbai Mountain is a dragon vein, full of vital energy that promotes plant growth. Combined with the fertile black soil, it’s no surprise these kiwis are so large.”
Ye Qiu sighed, “The Northeast is truly a treasure land.”
“No kidding! Why else would I come here?” Master Longbrow urged Ye Qiu, “Quick, ask that monkey where the monkey wine is.”
Ye Qiu asked the baby monkey, “Where’s the monkey wine?”
The baby monkey led Ye Qiu to the base of an ancient tree and pointed up.
“Up there?” Ye Qiu asked.
The baby monkey nodded.
Ye Qiu leapt up, landing lightly on a branch, and scanned the surroundings. He immediately spotted a half-metre-high tree hollow in the thick trunk.
Using his heavenly eye, Ye Qiu saw over a hundred bamboo tubes inside the hollow.
“Damn, that’s a lot.”
Ye Qiu quickly grabbed a dozen tubes and tossed them to Master Longbrow.
“You’ve got some conscience after all,” Master Longbrow grinned, pulling out the leaves and drinking deeply.
“Don’t drink too much and get drunk,” Ye Qiu warned.
Master Longbrow ignored him, downing a dozen pots in one go, his face flushed as he sat cross-legged on the ground.
Soon, wisps of white vapour rose from his head, and his aura began to climb.
“Is he breaking through?”
Ye Qiu was surprised and quickly drank some monkey wine himself. Moments later, he felt a warm current rising from his dantian.
He found a spot, sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and began circulating the Nine-Turn Dragon Art.
Soon, a golden light radiated from his body, making him look like a Buddha.
Seeing this, the monkeys knelt and worshipped Ye Qiu, mistaking him for a deity.
Half an hour passed.
Ye Qiu opened his eyes, feeling a bit disappointed.
Though the monkey wine had boosted his power slightly, he hadn’t made a significant breakthrough. Neither his innate true qi nor the Nine-Turn Dragon Art had progressed much.
He glanced over and saw Master Longbrow still cultivating.
Ye Qiu waited nearly an hour before Master Longbrow stopped.
Ye Qiu could clearly feel that Master Longbrow’s aura had grown stronger.
“Hahaha, I’ve broken through…” Master Longbrow laughed, three streams of true qi manifesting behind him, and asked, “Little brat, did you break through?”
Ye Qiu shook his head.
“No way, the monkey wine had no effect on you?” Master Longbrow found it odd.
Ye Qiu said glumly, “It had an effect, but not much.”
“Little brat, don’t be discouraged. Cultivation takes steady steps, no rushing,” Master Longbrow said, though inwardly he thought, “You little bastard, just wait. Once I cultivate nine streams of true qi, I’ll give you a beating.”
Unaware of Master Longbrow’s thoughts, Ye Qiu said, “Let’s hurry up and move.”
“Little brat, take all the monkey wine,” Master Longbrow said. “A hundred-year-old wild monkey wine is a rare treasure. It could sell for millions per ounce.”
“Don’t be greedy. Leave the rest for them,” Ye Qiu said, waving to the baby monkey, “Goodbye.”
The baby monkey understood Ye Qiu’s words and, with a few leaps, picked two kiwis from the vines and handed them to Ye Qiu, chattering “screech screech.”
Ye Qiu took the kiwis, his heart filled with emotion.
“Even beasts know to repay kindness, let alone humans?”
In today’s society, people chase fame and fortune. Some, for personal gain, betray kindness, forget gratitude, even turn against their country and insult its heroes—worse than beasts.
“Take care!” Ye Qiu patted the baby monkey’s head and, under its reluctant gaze, left with Master Longbrow.
Two hours later,
Deep in the Changbai Mountain restricted area,
Ye Qiu asked, “Old man, which way now?”
Master Longbrow took out a compass, studied it for a moment, and said, “Straight west!”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 944
Ye Qiu and Master Longbrow headed west.
After walking for over an hour,
Ye Qiu looked up, seeing endless mountains stretching ahead.
Boundless.
“Old man, where exactly are we going?” Ye Qiu couldn’t help but ask.
Master Longbrow chuckled, “Don’t rush. You’ll know when we get there.”
“How much farther?” Ye Qiu asked again.
“Almost there, almost there,” Master Longbrow said, leading the way.
A while later,
Master Longbrow suddenly noticed Ye Qiu was gone and shouted, “Little brat, where are you?”
No response.
“Little brat? Where’d you go?” Master Longbrow raised his voice again.
Still no answer.
“Could Ye Qiu be in trouble?”
Master Longbrow’s face grew serious. He turned back to find Ye Qiu, staying cautious.
This was the deep restricted area of Changbai Mountain, where anything strange could happen.
After backtracking two hundred metres, he saw Ye Qiu crouched beside a rock.
“Damn it, I was calling you! Are you deaf?”
Master Longbrow, fuming, yelled at Ye Qiu.
But Ye Qiu ignored him, staying still.
“What are you doing?” Master Longbrow, curious, approached.
As he reached Ye Qiu’s side, Ye Qiu stood up, turned, and grinned, “Old man, I found another treasure.”
Master Longbrow then noticed Ye Qiu holding a lingzhi mushroom larger than a washbasin.
“A hundred-year-old lingzhi!”
Master Longbrow’s eyes turned red with envy. “How’d you find this lingzhi? Why didn’t I see it?”
Ye Qiu said, “I was following you and just spotted it while walking.”
This luck…
Unbelievable!
Master Longbrow cursed, “I thought you were in danger, but you were picking lingzhi, making me worry for nothing.”
Ye Qiu tied the lingzhi with a dry vine, strapped it to his back, and smiled, “Old man, thanks to you this time.”
“If you hadn’t brought me here, I wouldn’t have known this place had so many treasures.”
“First, I dug up a five-hundred-year-old ginseng, now a hundred-year-old lingzhi. A thousand-year-old spiritual herb can’t be far off.”
“When we find it, I’ll treat you to a drink.”
Master Longbrow, feeling glum, said, “Stop talking, let’s move.”
They continued on.
Gradually, the sky darkened.
The sun set.
Ye Qiu asked, “Old man, how far is this place you’re heading to? Can we make it before dark?”
Master Longbrow said, “I don’t know.”
“What do you mean you don’t know?” Ye Qiu snapped. “Don’t tell me you don’t even know where we’re going?”
Master Longbrow reassured, “Little brat, don’t worry. I think we’re close.”
Ye Qiu said, “Old man, we need to reach the destination before dark. This is Changbai Mountain’s restricted area, with complex terrain and plenty of ferocious beasts. If we get surrounded, it’ll be trouble.”
Master Longbrow laughed, “No need to worry. With our skills, no beast can touch us.”
Ye Qiu cautioned, “Better safe than sorry. Let’s be careful.”
Master Longbrow checked his compass and said, “Keep going west.”
They raced forward,
Crossing several ridges, covering a hundred li.
Suddenly, Master Longbrow’s lower body sank into the ground.
“Damn, it’s a swamp…”
Ye Qiu, quick as lightning, grabbed Master Longbrow’s shoulder and pulled him out.
“Little brat, you were right. We need to be careful.”
Master Longbrow pointed ahead, “There’s a swamp up there. Let’s go around.”
They detoured,
Encountering plenty of venomous creatures along the way.
Pythons twenty to thirty metres long, half-metre-long centipedes, foot-long scorpions…
Countless.
This was a primal forest, a restricted zone, untouched by humans for years, with thick layers of leaves on the ground.
As they walked,
“Crack!”
A faint sound.
Ye Qiu stopped, saying, “Old man, I think I stepped on something.”
“Check it out,” Master Longbrow said, using a dry branch to clear the leaves under Ye Qiu’s foot.
Soon, a skeleton appeared in their view.
“Why’s there a skeleton here?” Ye Qiu wondered, activating his heavenly eye, his gaze piercing through the thick layer of leaves.
His face paled slightly.
“There’s more than one skeleton.” Ye Qiu gathered true qi in his palm and struck out.
Whoosh—
A powerful gust scattered the leaves, revealing over a dozen skeletons.
Master Longbrow said gravely, “This is a restricted area. Why are there so many dead people?”
Ye Qiu crouched, examined the bones, and said, “These people have been dead for decades.”
“Cause of death?” Master Longbrow asked.
“I found sharp teeth marks on the bones. They were likely bitten to death by some beast… Huh?” Ye Qiu stopped mid-sentence, letting out a surprised sound.
Master Longbrow asked urgently, “What’d you find?”
Ye Qiu didn’t answer, brushing aside leaves to pick up a handgun.
The gun was heavily corroded, covered in rust.
Nearby, Ye Qiu found more handguns and an old radio.
The radio was rusted, but a few words were faintly visible.
“Archaeological team, Northeast…”
Ye Qiu instantly knew who they were. “They were from an archaeological team.”
“Uncle Mountain Guard mentioned an archaeological team entered Changbai Mountain’s restricted area, searching for the legendary Golden City. None of them made it out.”
“Looks like they all died here.”
Master Longbrow sighed, “What a pity.”
Ye Qiu approached Master Longbrow and asked, “Old man, be honest. Is your trip to the Northeast also to find that Golden City?”
Master Longbrow looked away, “I’m a man of the Dao. What would I want with a Golden City?”
Ye Qiu saw through his evasiveness but didn’t press, saying, “If a national archaeological team came here, it means the Golden City likely exists.”
“I want to see what this Golden City looks like.”
Master Longbrow said, “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s hurry!”
They pressed on.
After an unknown time, night fell, the moon hung high, and the quiet forest echoed with occasional beast cries.
“Old man, how much longer?” Ye Qiu asked.
“Almost there, almost there,” Master Longbrow said, pulling out his compass. He noticed the needle spinning wildly, unable to stop.
What’s going on?
Master Longbrow’s heart sank.
Just then, Ye Qiu’s low voice sounded in his ear, “Old man, don’t make a sound. Look ahead.”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 945
Master Longbrow looked up, his pupils shrinking sharply.
Eighty metres ahead, on a massive rock, stood a half-metre-tall weasel.
Its fur gleamed, not a single stray hair, its two paws clasped together, worshipping the moon.
Solemn and devout!
Master Longbrow couldn’t help but recall a record from Dragon Tiger Mountain’s ancient texts: “A weasel worshipping the moon brings great fortune.”
Could this mean he’d finally find what he was after?
Master Longbrow grinned so widely his mouth twisted.
After its moon worship, the weasel leapt off the rock and vanished without a trace.
Ye Qiu turned and saw Master Longbrow smiling broadly, asking, “Old man, what’s so funny?”
“Heh heh…” Master Longbrow chuckled.
Ye Qiu added, “That’s the biggest weasel I’ve ever seen.”
Master Longbrow said, “That weasel’s probably lived a long time. If it keeps going, it might turn into a spirit.”
Ye Qiu had heard tales of animals absorbing the essence of the sun and moon to gain cultivation, eventually transforming into human form.
Of course, those were just legends.
“Old man, how far is this place we’re going?” Ye Qiu asked.
“Almost there, almost there,” Master Longbrow said, glancing at his compass. The needle was still spinning wildly, showing no sign of stopping.
Ye Qiu grumbled, “You kept saying ‘almost there,’ but we’ve been walking forever. Why aren’t we there yet?”
Master Longbrow fiddled with the compass, trying to find direction, but the spinning needle left him clueless.
Ye Qiu pressed, “Old man, where exactly are we going this time?”
“Heavenly Lake,” Master Longbrow blurted out.
Heavenly Lake?
Ye Qiu froze, then fumed, “At this point, you’re still lying to me!”
“Changbai Mountain’s Heavenly Lake is famous. Who doesn’t know where it is?”
“If we’re going to Heavenly Lake, why are we in the restricted area?”
Master Longbrow said seriously, “My purpose for coming to the Northeast is to find Heavenly Lake.”
“But the Heavenly Lake known to the world is just a tourist spot.”
“The Heavenly Lake I’m talking about is where Changbai Mountain’s dragon vein converges, deep in the restricted area.”
Ye Qiu frowned, “You mean there are two Heavenly Lakes in Changbai Mountain—one a tourist spot, the other unknown?”
Master Longbrow nodded slightly, then shook his head.
Ye Qiu, confused, asked, “What’s with the nodding and shaking?”
Master Longbrow replied, “As you said, there are two Heavenly Lakes in Changbai Mountain. The other one isn’t exactly unknown, just known to very few.”
“As it happens, the forty-second master of Dragon Tiger Mountain, Master Dongxuan, visited this lesser-known Heavenly Lake.”
“I read about it in Dragon Tiger Mountain’s treasured ancient texts.”
“According to Master Dongxuan, after an emperor secured the throne, to ensure eternal rule, he ordered a diviner from the Imperial Observatory to sever dragon veins across the land.”
“This diviner travelled the country, leaving footprints in every famous mountain and river, cutting ninety-eight dragon veins.”
“Finally, he came to Changbai Mountain.”
“He discovered a dragon vein here, with the potential of a latent dragon in the abyss. If the time came, it would surely soar to the heavens.”
“The diviner declared that if this dragon vein wasn’t severed, a true dragon emperor would emerge here centuries later.”
“He prepared to cut Changbai Mountain’s dragon vein, but just as he was about to act, a heavenly phenomenon appeared—thunderclouds rolled, a storm raged, and a bolt of lightning struck him dead.”
“Master Dongxuan said dragon veins are born of heaven’s will, but this diviner defied heaven, angering the skies and dying by divine punishment.”
“Centuries later, Changbai Mountain indeed produced a true dragon emperor—Nurhaci, the ancestor of the Qing Dynasty.”
“Nurhaci rose from the Northeast, laying a solid foundation for the Qing Dynasty. Without him, there would’ve been no Qing.”
Ye Qiu, still puzzled, asked, “What’s this got to do with the Heavenly Lake you’re looking for?”
“Little brat, don’t rush. Let me explain slowly.”
Master Longbrow said, “Every master of Dragon Tiger Mountain is a master of extraordinary arts, as you can see from me.”
“Shameless!” Ye Qiu snapped without mercy.
Master Longbrow, as if he hadn’t heard, continued, “Each master of Dragon Tiger Mountain excels in something. The second master was skilled in talismans, the third in Qimen Dunjia, the fourth in swordsmanship… As for me, I’m adept at divine calculations.”
Ye Qiu grew impatient, “Old man, stop flattering yourself and talk about Master Dongxuan.”
Master Longbrow grinned, “Master Dongxuan was a prodigy, skilled in feng shui and geomancy.”
“He travelled famous mountains and rivers, seeking dragon veins, and heard the story of the diviner cutting dragon veins, so he came to Changbai Mountain.”
“According to Master Dongxuan, he saw a Heavenly Lake deep in Changbai Mountain.”
“This Heavenly Lake was at the peak of a solitary mountain, utterly miraculous.”
“He also said the Golden City lies beneath this Heavenly Lake.”
Master Longbrow added, “Master Dongxuan said the Golden City holds a great treasure. If Dragon Tiger Mountain obtains it, we’ll shine for ten thousand years.”
“True or not?” Ye Qiu was skeptical. “If Master Dongxuan visited the Golden City, why didn’t he take the treasure?”
Master Longbrow said, “For some reason, he didn’t take it. He left word that to claim the treasure, one must have sufficient destiny.”
Ye Qiu asked, “Old man, do you think your destiny is enough to take the treasure?”
Master Longbrow sighed, “I don’t know if my destiny’s enough, but if we don’t take the treasure, Dragon Tiger Mountain will only decline further.”
“I’m old, with little time left.”
“I must retrieve the treasure from the Golden City before I die. That way, Dragon Tiger Mountain might regain its glory.”
Ye Qiu pressed, “What’s this treasure in the Golden City? Do you know?”
Master Longbrow shook his head, “No idea.”
Damn it, you know nothing and aren’t afraid of being fooled.
Ye Qiu advised, “Old man, listen to me. The higher the hope, the greater the disappointment. Lower your expectations.”
“You think Master Dongxuan’s words are false?” Master Longbrow shook his head, “He wouldn’t lie. I believe the Golden City holds a great treasure.”
Ye Qiu glanced at the compass in Master Longbrow’s hand, its needle spinning wildly, and asked, “What now?”
“No worries, I have a way.”
Master Longbrow put away the compass and pulled a turtle shell from his sleeve.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 946
Master Longbrow took out a tortoise shell from the sleeve of his Taoist robe, holding it in his palm.
Ye Qiu noticed that the tortoise shell was mottled, black with a white sheen, engraved with a Bagua pattern, clearly an ancient object.
What was the old thing up to?
Divination?
Just as Ye Qiu thought of this, he saw Master Longbrow holding the tortoise shell with both hands, shaking it, and a clinking sound came from inside.
Ten seconds later.
Master Longbrow opened the tortoise shell, and three copper coins fell to the ground, forming a triangular shape.
“How is it?” Ye Qiu asked.
Master Longbrow put away the coins and the tortoise shell, saying gleefully, “A sign of great fortune.”
Hearing this, Ye Qiu’s face turned sour.
He knew Master Longbrow well, this old thing was utterly unreliable, his divinations were never accurate, and you basically had to interpret them the opposite way.
If Master Longbrow said it was a sign of great fortune, it was most likely a sign of great misfortune.
“Let’s go!” Master Longbrow headed forward.
Ye Qiu followed behind Master Longbrow, his right hand quietly clenched into a fist, ready to guard against any danger.
Sure enough.
After walking only two li, they encountered a wild wolf.
The wolf was massive, over two metres long, like a leopard.
“Old thing, is this your so-called sign of great fortune?” Ye Qiu mocked.
Master Longbrow laughed, “Just one wild wolf, nothing to worry about.”
Ye Qiu said, “As far as I know, wolves are pack animals, they don’t usually travel alone, there might be a pack here.”
Awoo!
Suddenly, the wolf let out a howl, and immediately, howls echoed from the surrounding forest.
“Awoo!”
“Awoo!”
Master Longbrow turned his head and saw countless cold green glints in the nearby woods.
Those green glints were the eyes of wild wolves.
“Damn it, the wolf pack’s here! Ye Qiu, you jinx!”
Master Longbrow cursed and quickly dashed forward.
Ye Qiu was about to follow when the wild wolf pounced, blocking his path.
“Get lost!” Ye Qiu roared.
Not only did the wolf not back off, it bared its teeth at Ye Qiu, its green eyes glinting with ferocity.
“Courting death!”
Ye Qiu threw a punch, the immense force sending the wolf flying.
“Bang!”
The wolf crashed into an ancient tree, and with a loud “boom,” the tree snapped instantly.
As for the wolf, it didn’t even have time to yelp before dying on the spot.
Ye Qiu didn’t spare the wolf a glance and chased after Master Longbrow, the two of them running forward.
Soon, the forest behind them echoed with earth-shaking wolf howls again.
Ye Qiu, while moving forward, sneered, “Sign of great fortune? Heh, truly the world’s greatest diviner, so damn accurate!”
Master Longbrow said, “Little brat, how can you blame me? If it weren’t for your jinxing mouth, how would a wolf pack show up?”
Ye Qiu cursed, “You didn’t divine accurately, and you’re blaming me? Shameless.”
Master Longbrow quibbled, “The divination showed a sign of great fortune, meaning we can turn danger into safety.”
“Even though a wolf pack appeared just now, we didn’t encounter any danger.”
“Dare you say this isn’t a sign of great fortune?”
Shameless!
“Thud!”
Suddenly, a dark shadow darted out from the woods, nearly crashing into Master Longbrow. Fortunately, Master Longbrow reacted quickly, dodging twenty metres away in a flash.
Master Longbrow turned to look and saw that it was a lizard attacking him.
“Beast, daring to attack this Taoist, you deserve death.”
Master Longbrow moved like the wind, swiftly pressing a palm onto the lizard’s head.
“Splat!”
Blood sprayed.
The lizard died instantly.
“See that? Turned danger into safety again,” Master Longbrow said smugly.
Ye Qiu ignored Master Longbrow, his eyes scanning the surroundings, feeling puzzled.
This environment wasn’t suitable for lizards to survive, yet one had appeared.
It seemed that the forbidden land of Changbai Mountain was indeed full of mysteries.
“Hurry up and move.”
Master Longbrow said this and continued leading the way.
After a few more li.
Master Longbrow stopped, pointing into the distance and saying, “Little brat, look, what’s that?”
Ye Qiu looked far ahead, and by the moonlight, he saw a solitary mountain.
The mountain was about a thousand metres high, covered in lush vegetation, resembling a giant bell.
On either side of the solitary mountain were two massive mountain ranges, stretching for thousands of li, majestic and grand, with the solitary mountain perfectly nestled between them.
“What a perfect feng shui layout of twin dragons playing with a pearl. Whoever is buried on that solitary mountain will surely produce an emperor among their descendants.”
“The Tianchi that Master Cave Mystic mentioned should be on that solitary mountain.”
“Little brat, I divined earlier, and the sign was great fortune. Now do you believe me?”
Ye Qiu didn’t want to waste words with this old thing and said, “Keep moving.”
“Let’s go.” Master Longbrow shot forward like lightning.
Ye Qiu followed closely.
Soon, the two arrived at the foot of the solitary mountain.
Master Longbrow glanced at the mountain, then said with a sly look, “Little brat, let’s discuss something.”
Seeing his expression, Ye Qiu knew this old thing was up to no good.
Ye Qiu grew cautious and asked, “What do you want to discuss?”
Master Longbrow said, “To restore the former glory of Dragon Tiger Mountain, I need to find a great treasure in the Golden City. Help me out, and get the treasure.”
Ye Qiu asked, “And then?”
Master Longbrow said, “Then help me transport the Golden City out.”
“What do you want with the Golden City?” Ye Qiu was puzzled.
Master Longbrow chuckled, “Think about it, a city made of gold, how much would that sell for?”
“With that money, I can rebuild Dragon Tiger Mountain.”
“Isn’t that grand?”
Ye Qiu gave Master Longbrow a cold glance and cursed, “I really didn’t see it before, you’re quite ugly, but your dreams are pretty grand.”
Master Longbrow wasn’t angry and laughed, “Of course, you’ve known me for so long, you should know I’m a man of loyalty and righteousness. I never let my friends suffer.”
“As long as you help me with this, I swear I won’t let you work for nothing.”
“To repay you, I vow that whether or not we find the thousand-year elixir, I’ll help you cure Su Luoying.”
Ye Qiu didn’t believe Master Longbrow’s nonsense at all. No one knew Su Luoying’s condition better than him, only a thousand-year elixir or a Nine Yang physique could save her life.
Ye Qiu didn’t want to discuss this topic and warned, “Old thing, don’t dream too big, we might still encounter dangers.”
“Little brat, don’t worry, the divination showed great fortune. Trust me, we won’t face any more danger. Let’s not delay, up the mountain!”
Master Longbrow, full of confidence, turned and started climbing.
Unexpectedly, as soon as he stepped into the woods, he collapsed to the ground, foaming at the mouth.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 947
“A sign of great fortune, is that it?”
Ye Qiu stared in disbelief, glancing down at Master Longbrow.
Master Longbrow lay on the ground, his body stiff and immobile, his face turning blue, foaming at the mouth.
Ye Qiu could tell at a glance that Master Longbrow had been poisoned by miasma.
Master Longbrow said in agony, “Little brat, save me, save me…”
Ye Qiu didn’t immediately help Master Longbrow, instead chuckling, “Old thing, didn’t your divination say we’d turn danger into safety? You’ll be fine in a bit.”
Master Longbrow, both anxious and angry, said, “Little brat, stop with the sarcasm, save me quick, this Taoist doesn’t want to die yet.”
Ye Qiu held up one finger.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Master Longbrow asked, puzzled.
Ye Qiu said, “Give me a hundred million, and I’ll save your life.”
Damn it!
Master Longbrow was so angry he wanted to curse.
“Don’t tell me you don’t have the money. You sold me ten sword talismans and made quite a bit from me,” Ye Qiu said.
Master Longbrow snapped, “Save me now, and once the poison’s gone, I’ll give you the money.”
“Are you planning to renege after I cure you?” Ye Qiu said with a grin, “Money first.”
“You—” Master Longbrow was about to curse Ye Qiu, but as soon as he opened his mouth, a spray of white foam came out.
Ye Qiu said leisurely, “The miasma here is colourless and odourless, even my senses didn’t pick it up, so it’s clearly no ordinary poison.”
“Old thing, in your current state, if you don’t get immediate treatment, you’ll be meeting the past masters of Dragon Tiger Mountain in just a few minutes.”
“But that’s not bad, right? Ascending to immortality, isn’t that the goal?”
Cursing me to death, you little bastard.
Master Longbrow glared at Ye Qiu furiously, then said, “Transfer it yourself, the phone’s in my pocket.”
“As you wish.” Ye Qiu fished the phone out of Master Longbrow’s pocket and opened the banking app.
“Password?”
“Six eights!”
Ye Qiu logged in and saw that Master Longbrow’s bank account had a whopping ten billion.
“Bloody hell, you old thing, so rich and you still cry poor to me? Shameless.”
Ye Qiu transferred a hundred million to his own account, then dragged Master Longbrow out of the woods, pulled out a golden needle, and quickly inserted it into several points on Master Longbrow’s body.
Soon, Master Longbrow recovered.
“Phew—”
Master Longbrow let out a long breath and cursed at Ye Qiu, “You little bastard, extorting me when I’m at death’s door, you heartless wolf.”
Ye Qiu laughed, “Forgot who just saved you? If it wasn’t for me, you’d be long gone.”
Master Longbrow said, “If I hadn’t given you a hundred million, would you have saved me?”
“I would!” Ye Qiu’s smile didn’t fade as he said, “You know my character, I wouldn’t stand by when a friend’s in trouble.”
Master Longbrow was stunned, then said, “So, even if I didn’t give you the money, you’d have saved me?”
Ye Qiu smiled, “Of course.”
Master Longbrow’s face turned blue again, this time from anger at Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu said, “I was just messing with you, who knew you’d actually give me the money? But speaking of which, if I hadn’t logged into your bank account, how would I have known you were that rich?”
Master Longbrow fumed, “This Taoist worked hard half my life to save that much, and you extorted a tenth of it. I really want to kill you.”
Ye Qiu asked, puzzled, “Old thing, you’re a man of the cloth, what do you need all that money for?”
Master Longbrow said, “I want to rebuild Dragon Tiger Mountain.”
“Do you know how much it costs to rebuild Dragon Tiger Mountain? At least ten billion!”
“You little bastard, extorting a hundred million from me, I’ll hate you forever!”
“It’s just a hundred million, is it that serious?” Ye Qiu said, “Old thing, how about I give it back?”
Master Longbrow immediately beamed, “Yes, yes, great.”
Ye Qiu said, “See, I mess with you, and you take it seriously.”
You bastard!
Master Longbrow’s cheeks puffed up with anger, silently cursing, “You little bastard, just you wait. Once this Taoist cultivates nine streams of true qi, I’ll beat the crap out of you!”
Then.
Ye Qiu looked up at the solitary mountain and said, “This mountain is a thousand metres high, and the woods are full of miasma. Old thing, can you make it up?”
“Mere miasma can’t stop me,” Master Longbrow said, pulling a talisman from his pocket and placing it under his tongue before striding into the woods.
This time, Master Longbrow didn’t get poisoned, clearly thanks to the talisman’s effect.
Ye Qiu, immune to all poisons, had no worries and followed Master Longbrow into the woods, climbing the mountain.
The journey was smooth.
No further dangers appeared.
Ten minutes later.
Ye Qiu and Master Longbrow reached the mountain’s summit.
All was silent.
They looked around and saw the summit covered about a hundred mu, with gentle slopes rising around the edges and a depression in the centre, like a wok.
In the centre of the depression was a circular lake.
The lake was only the size of a house, like a mirror.
The water was very calm, occasionally rippling with a slight breeze, and gradually, a faint mist appeared, shrouded in moonlight, like a beautiful maiden veiled in gauze.
Though the scenery here was beautiful, compared to the famous Tianchi of Changbai Mountain, it seemed a bit underwhelming.
“Tianchi! This Taoist has finally found Tianchi!”
Master Longbrow was overwhelmed with emotion, pointing at the lake and saying, “Little brat, I didn’t lie to you, did I?”
“Now that we’ve found Tianchi, we’ll soon see the Golden City.”
“Once we enter the Golden City, this Taoist can claim the great treasure.”
“With that treasure, the revival of Dragon Tiger Mountain’s glory is just around the corner! Just around the corner!”
“Hahaha…”
Master Longbrow laughed to the sky, so excited he nearly wept with joy.
Ye Qiu, on the other hand, was very calm and asked, “Old thing, are you sure the Golden City is beneath this Tianchi?”
“Absolutely! Master Cave Mystic was an enlightened sage, he wouldn’t deceive his descendants,” Master Longbrow said, then eagerly sprinted toward Tianchi.
Ye Qiu followed.
When they reached Tianchi, they both noticed the temperature here was higher than elsewhere, their bodies feeling warm.
“This temperature…”
Before Ye Qiu could finish, Master Longbrow laughed, “A place where dragon veins converge is naturally different from ordinary places.”
“Little brat, haven’t you noticed? The water in Tianchi is warm.”
Oh?
Curious, Ye Qiu bent down to test the water’s temperature.
As Master Longbrow said, the water in Tianchi was warm, probably around forty or fifty degrees.
“This place has nice scenery and a natural hot spring. If developed for tourism, the prospects would be great.”
Just as Ye Qiu finished speaking, his eyelids suddenly twitched violently, and a strong sense of unease surged in his heart.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 948
Ye Qiu’s heart instantly went on high alert, his eyes scanning the surroundings, trying to pinpoint the source of his unease.
However, he found nothing.
“Old thing, be careful. I have a feeling this place isn’t simple,” Ye Qiu warned.
Master Longbrow dismissed it, “Little brat, you’re overthinking. There’s no danger here.”
Ye Qiu asked, “How are you so sure?”
“Master Cave Mystic came here and never mentioned any danger,” Master Longbrow said, squatting by Tianchi to feel the water’s temperature, then turning to Ye Qiu, “Little brat, you’re right, this place would make a great tourist spot, but sadly, it’s a forbidden zone…”
Suddenly, Ye Qiu saw a white shadow burst out of Tianchi, shooting toward Master Longbrow.
“Watch out!”
As Ye Qiu shouted the warning, a sword qi shot from his fingertip.
“Swoosh!”
The white shadow was incredibly fast, dodging the sword qi and instantly retreating back into Tianchi.
Master Longbrow quickly stepped back a few paces and asked Ye Qiu, “What was that?”
Ye Qiu shook his head, “Didn’t see it clearly.”
“No way, even your eyesight couldn’t catch it? That’s impossible!” Master Longbrow said in disbelief.
Unbeknownst to him, Ye Qiu was even more shocked.
Having cultivated three streams of true qi, with his current strength, even a master with nine streams of true qi couldn’t escape his sight within a hundred metres.
Yet, he hadn’t seen what that white shadow was.
Ye Qiu said, “I didn’t get a clear look at what it was, but its speed was fast enough to evade my eyes. We can’t underestimate it.”
Master Longbrow asked, “Could it be a water monster?”
Ye Qiu shook his head, “Definitely not a water monster. That white shadow was only a foot long, how could it be a water monster?”
“But I felt killing intent just now.”
“If I hadn’t shot out the sword qi in time, you might’ve been in trouble.”
Master Longbrow frowned, “This is bad.”
“There’s danger in the water, how do we go down?”
“What if that thing attacks us when we’re down there?”
Ye Qiu said, “Didn’t you say we’d turn danger into safety? How about this, you go into the water and test it?”
“You want me to die?” Master Longbrow snorted, “This Taoist won’t fall for your trick.”
Ye Qiu grinned, “Then how about you do another divination?”
Master Longbrow seemed tempted, but then shook his head like a rattle, saying righteously, “Divination reveals heaven’s secrets. If I do it too much, I’ll face divine punishment.”
Divine punishment my foot!
You’re clearly just making excuses for your inaccurate divinations!
Ye Qiu gave Master Longbrow a disdainful look, then quietly activated his Heavenly Eye, peering into the water.
Instantly, his vision penetrated thirty metres below the surface.
The water was clear.
Apart from some weeds, there was nothing.
Ye Qiu observed while saying, “Old thing, even if there’s no danger in the water, it’d be hard for us to reach the bottom of Tianchi.”
Master Longbrow asked, “Why?”
Ye Qiu said, “This Tianchi is unfathomably deep, and we didn’t bring diving gear. How do we get in?”
Master Longbrow said, “No need to worry about that, this Taoist has a way.”
“What way? Don’t tell me…”
Ye Qiu’s voice cut off, his body tensing, his right hand behind his back, inner energy surging in his palm.
Seeing Ye Qiu’s actions, Master Longbrow asked, “Did you spot something?”
“Quiet.”
Ye Qiu whispered, his eyes fixed on Tianchi, where a white shadow shot out from the depths at an incredible speed.
Like a streak of aurora.
Even with his Heavenly Eye activated, Ye Qiu still couldn’t make out what the white shadow was, only catching its trajectory.
Twenty metres.
Ten metres.
Five metres.
“Swoosh!”
The white shadow burst out of the water like lightning, heading straight for Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu was prepared, his hand swiftly reaching out, grabbing the shadow.
A sharp pain shot through his palm.
Blood flowed.
Ye Qiu gripped tightly, refusing to let go, and only then did he see that the white shadow in his hand was a white fish.
The fish was about thirty centimetres long, with a pointed mouth and conical head, its body flat like a sword.
Its dorsal and ventral fins were like sword blades, with three sharp spines, incredibly sharp, which had cut Ye Qiu’s palm.
Ye Qiu was shocked.
Having cultivated the Nine-Turn Dragon Art, his body was as tough as iron and bronze, immune to ordinary blades and spears, yet today, he was injured by a fish.
“Old thing, take a look, what kind of fish is this?” Ye Qiu called.
Master Longbrow came closer, looked closely, and his face showed shock, “Swordfish!”
Swordfish?
Ye Qiu looked puzzled.
Master Longbrow explained, “The *Classic of Mountains and Seas* records: ‘In the mountains and rivers, there is a fish, shaped like a sword, called swordfish.’ Not only that, I read in an ancient text that the spines on a swordfish’s fins are as sharp as divine swords.”
Hiss!
The swordfish, gripped in Ye Qiu’s palm, struggled fiercely, baring its teeth at Ye Qiu, revealing two long, thin fangs.
“Damn it, a mere beast dares to threaten me? Courting death!”
Ye Qiu was about to crush the swordfish.
“Little brat, stop.”
Master Longbrow quickly stopped Ye Qiu, chuckling, “Swordfish are valuable.”
“Their teeth and the spines on their fins are perfect materials for hidden weapons.”
“Plus, I once read in a gourmet cookbook that swordfish meat is tender, tastier than pufferfish.”
“Most importantly, swordfish are extremely rare, living up to a thousand years, growing slowly. One this big must be centuries old, and eating it can boost your cultivation.”
Ye Qiu was surprised, “Really?”
“Don’t believe me? Try it and find out,” Master Longbrow said, grabbing the swordfish’s mouth.
Moments later.
The swordfish suffocated and died.
Master Longbrow swiftly gutted it, gathered some dry branches, started a fire, and began roasting the swordfish.
Soon, the aroma of fish filled the air.
Ye Qiu took a whiff, his spirit lifting, as if he’d consumed a century-old ginseng, feeling light and invigorated, indescribably wonderful.
“It seems the old thing wasn’t lying, swordfish really is something special,” Ye Qiu thought.
“Little brat, go grab some more dry branches,” Master Longbrow said.
Ye Qiu didn’t think much of it and went to collect branches. When he returned, he found only fish bones left.
Master Longbrow sat cross-legged, eyes closed, circulating his energy.
“You dog, tricking me to eat it all yourself? Shameless!”
Ye Qiu cursed, and at that moment, a powerful aura emanated from Master Longbrow.
Then, four streams of true qi appeared behind him!
Miracle Doctor Chapter 949
Ye Qiu’s face showed astonishment.
He hadn’t expected that Master Longbrow, after eating just one swordfish, had cultivated another stream of true qi.
Unbelievable!
“No wonder this old thing tricked me to eat alone. Swordfish really can boost cultivation.”
Just as Ye Qiu thought this, Master Longbrow opened his eyes, chuckling, “Little brat, you didn’t come back for a while, and this Taoist was worried the grilled fish would get cold and taste bad, so I ate it for you.”
“Don’t be mad.”
“There’s more than one swordfish in Tianchi. We can have a feast later.”
Ye Qiu cursed, “Shameless!”
Master Longbrow pretended not to hear and said, “You saw the effect of the swordfish. This Taoist ate just one and broke through to the fourth stream of true qi. Little brat, jealous or not?”
“Let me tell you, no need to envy me. If you eat swordfish, your cultivation will break through too.”
“According to ancient texts, swordfish are pack animals. There must be plenty more in this Tianchi.”
“I’ll lure them out, little brat, you handle the catching.”
Master Longbrow finished speaking, walked to Tianchi, bit his middle finger, and squeezed out a drop of blood.
Drip!
The blood fell into Tianchi.
Strangely, after entering the water, the blood floated on the surface, not mixing with it.
Ye Qiu knew Master Longbrow must have used some secret technique.
At that moment.
Master Longbrow muttered an incantation, his left hand swiftly drawing a talisman. Five seconds later, his index and middle fingers pointed at Tianchi, and he softly commanded, “Disperse!”
Instantly, the drop of blood released a strong smell of blood.
“Little brat, get ready, the swordfish are coming.”
“Give it your all.”
“Catch as many as you can.”
Master Longbrow said, quickly stepping back a few paces.
Ye Qiu activated his Heavenly Eye, staring into Tianchi. After a while, he saw no sign of swordfish.
“Old thing, will this really work?” Ye Qiu sounded skeptical.
Master Longbrow said confidently, “Little brat, trust me. This Taoist would never deceive you.”
“When the swordfish come, catch them with all you’ve got. Don’t hold back.”
“Miss this chance, and you won’t get another like it.”
Ye Qiu kept his eyes on Tianchi.
Two minutes later.
Suddenly, a white shadow appeared in the water.
“They’re here!”
Ye Qiu focused entirely, locking onto the shadow, inner energy surging in his palm, ready to act.
Then he saw a second white shadow, a third, a fourth…
Hundreds of swordfish appeared.
Bloody hell, so many?
Ye Qiu was stunned.
The swordfish, like streaks of light, rushed up from the depths of Tianchi, heading toward the blood drop.
Ye Qiu quickly pulled out a needle pouch, grabbing dozens of golden needles. As the swordfish neared the surface, he struck.
Swoosh!
Swoosh!
Swoosh!
…
Golden needles shot out, instantly killing dozens of swordfish.
The dead swordfish floated on the surface, bellies up.
The others, sensing danger, turned and fled to the bottom of Tianchi.
Ye Qiu swiftly retrieved the swordfish killed by the needles.
Master Longbrow, seeing so many swordfish, grinned ear to ear, exclaiming, “Big haul! Big haul!”
“Little brat, eating these swordfish will surely boost our cultivation.”
“Your martial talent is high. Maybe eating a dozen or so will get you to nine streams of true qi.”
Ye Qiu felt a spark of anticipation. If these swordfish could help him reach nine streams of true qi, he’d have more confidence facing the Forbidden City.
“Little brat, let’s get to work, quick.”
They gutted and cleaned the swordfish, then started grilling.
Ye Qiu silently counted, fifty-four swordfish in total.
After grilling them, he and Master Longbrow brought out monkey wine, eating grilled fish and drinking.
“Grilled fish with wine, the more you drink, the better it gets. Awesome!”
After eating five grilled fish, Master Longbrow’s face was flushed, like he was drunk, and he said, “Little brat, I’ll rest a bit. Don’t eat them all, save some for me.”
With that, Master Longbrow sat to the side, cross-legged, and began circulating his energy.
Ye Qiu devoured over a dozen swordfish in one go, but there was no sign of a breakthrough, not even a slight feeling.
What’s going on?
Ye Qiu silently circulated his energy, found his true qi normal, and frowned.
“Why do swordfish work for the old thing but have no effect on me?”
“Maybe I haven’t eaten enough?”
“No, that’s not right. The old thing broke through with just one swordfish the first time, and now after five, he’s about to break through again. I’ve eaten over a dozen, so why no effect?”
Ye Qiu was baffled and ate another twenty or so swordfish.
Suddenly, a powerful aura burst from Master Longbrow, with five streams of true qi appearing behind him.
“Damn it, this old thing broke through again.”
Ye Qiu’s eyes were red with envy.
Master Longbrow opened his eyes, grinning, “Little brat, I didn’t lie, did I? Swordfish boost cultivation. This Taoist has reached five streams of true qi… huh, you ate so many and didn’t break through?”
Ye Qiu said glumly, “The swordfish had no effect on me.”
Master Longbrow was stunned, “No way, they worked for me, how could they not work for you?”
Ye Qiu said, “I don’t know why.”
“Could it be related to your innate true qi?” Master Longbrow asked.
“Maybe!” Ye Qiu had long noticed that breaking through with innate true qi was far harder than with acquired true qi.
Moreover, each breakthrough now required facing a powerful heavenly tribulation, and the slightest mistake could mean death under it.
“Little brat, since the swordfish don’t work for you, let me eat the rest!”
As he spoke, Master Longbrow ate all the remaining swordfish.
Soon, he broke through again, cultivating a sixth stream of true qi!
Ye Qiu was thoroughly depressed.
He’d thought he’d break through too, but in the end, it all benefited the old thing.
After breaking through, Master Longbrow stood before Tianchi, hands behind his back, exuding the air of a lofty sage, and said, “At this moment, this Taoist is deeply moved and shall compose a poem.”
That damn old thing is showing off again.
Ye Qiu cursed inwardly.
Master Longbrow declared loudly, “*River City, Tianchi Swordfish!*”
“Midnight hunger strikes, oh so strong, on wild hills, by Tianchi’s song. One swordfish, how it tastes so fine?”
“Golden needles in hand, a hundred strong, catch swordfish, gut them long.”
“Chicken legs, tripe, or roasted lamb, spicy soup with fiery tang.”
“None compare to swordfish’s delight.”
“No regrets, this journey’s right!”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 950
Master Longbrow finished reciting, turned to Ye Qiu, and asked, “Little brat, how’s my poem?”
Ye Qiu said, “Your poem…”
Before he could finish, Master Longbrow cut in, laughing, “Are you about to say this Taoist wrote it well?”
“No need to praise me, or I’ll get proud.”
“As the old saying goes, pride leads to regression, humility to progress. This Taoist must stay humble.”
“But honestly, my poetry is just average, not on par with Su Dongpo.”
Not on par? It’s leagues behind by a hundred thousand miles.
Ye Qiu was just mentally scoffing when Master Longbrow added, “But compared to Xin Qiji, it’s more than enough.”
Don’t you dare insult Xin Qiji!
You’re not worthy!
Ye Qiu wanted to punch the old thing in the face. He’d seen shameless, but never this shameless.
“Old thing, enough nonsense. Figure out how we get down there,” Ye Qiu said.
“This Taoist is prepared,” Master Longbrow said, sitting down to remove his cloth shoes, pulling four yellowed talismans from the soles and handing two to Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu looked disgusted. Before even taking the talismans, he smelled a sour stench.
He felt like vomiting!
“Just a few talismans, hidden so carefully, really?” Ye Qiu said scornfully.
Master Longbrow explained, “Little brat, don’t underestimate these talismans. They were drawn by Master Cave Mystic himself. He used them to reach the bottom of Tianchi back then.”
Oh?
Ye Qiu’s face showed surprise. Taking the talismans, he instantly sensed their extraordinary nature.
They were drawn on parchment.
Each stroke carried a profound charm.
“These are… Water-Repelling Talismans?” Ye Qiu recognized them.
Master Longbrow exclaimed, “Well, look at you, kid, you’ve got some knowledge, spotting it right away. Yes, these are Water-Repelling Talismans.”
Ye Qiu knew them because the Ye family ancestor’s teachings mentioned such talismans.
However, Water-Repelling Talismans were advanced, and with Ye Qiu’s current cultivation, he couldn’t draw them.
This showed Master Cave Mystic’s cultivation was unfathomably deep.
Master Longbrow said, “Master Cave Mystic left dozens of Water-Repelling Talismans, but my wasteful master used most of them. Now only these four remain.”
“With these, we can easily enter Tianchi and come back out.”
Ye Qiu said, “The talismans can get us into Tianchi, but old thing, don’t forget, there are still plenty of swordfish in there. What if we’re attacked by them underwater?”
Master Longbrow laughed, “Little brat, with your cultivation, you’re scared of a few swordfish?”
Ye Qiu said, “A few? I’m not afraid. But what if thousands of swordfish attack?”
Swordfish were incredibly fast, their fin spines razor-sharp. Facing thousands would be trouble.
“No need to worry, mere swordfish won’t dare attack us,” Master Longbrow said confidently.
Ye Qiu glanced at him and asked, “What’s your plan?”
Master Longbrow pulled a handful of Flame Talismans from his sleeve, handed them to Ye Qiu, and said, “Swordfish fear fire.”
“These Flame Talismans, drawn by me, can burn in any environment.”
“Even underwater.”
Ye Qiu realized Master Longbrow had made thorough preparations to find the treasure in the Golden City.
“In that case, let’s not delay. Let’s go down and see.”
Ye Qiu took the Flame Talismans and put them in his pocket.
“Little brat, using the Water-Repelling Talisman is simple. Just place it under your tongue,” Master Longbrow said.
Ye Qiu said, “Show me how.”
Master Longbrow placed a talisman under his tongue and said, “Got it?”
Ye Qiu’s face broke into a bright smile.
“What are you grinning at?” Master Longbrow asked.
Ye Qiu smiled, infused true qi into the talisman, then crushed it. Instantly, the Water-Repelling Talisman emitted a faint blue glow.
Splash!
Ye Qiu jumped into Tianchi, the blue glow forming a shield around him, repelling the water.
Like a massive stone, his body sank rapidly toward the bottom of Tianchi.
“Damn, you can use the Water-Repelling Talisman like that?”
Master Longbrow was stunned, only then realizing why Ye Qiu had smiled.
He quickly pulled the talisman from under his tongue, gagged twice, then crushed his own Water-Repelling Talisman.
Just like Ye Qiu, the talisman emitted a blue glow upon breaking.
Master Longbrow jumped into Tianchi, the blue glow enveloping him, and his body plummeted toward the bottom.
The water was pitch black, visibility zero.
Master Longbrow pulled a military flashlight from his robe sleeve, chuckling, “This Taoist knew it’d be dark down here, so I got a military flashlight from Tang Fei in advance.”
“Little brat, didn’t expect that, did you?”
“Plunging down like you did, if you hit a rock or something, it’d be a miracle if you didn’t die.”
“Oh, wait, I forgot, your body’s tough, not afraid of a fall.”
“No matter, as long as I see you in a mess, this Taoist’s happy.”
Unbeknownst to him, Ye Qiu’s Heavenly Eye allowed him to see clearly within thirty metres, even without a flashlight.
Suddenly.
Ye Qiu sensed movement below, white streaks shooting up like lightning.
“Swordfish!”
Ye Qiu was about to use a Flame Talisman when he noticed the swordfish seemed to ignore him, rushing past.
What’s going on?
Ye Qiu looked up and saw a light source above, with the swordfish heading straight for it.
Ye Qiu cursed inwardly, “That old thing hid a flashlight and didn’t tell me. Now he’s drawn all the swordfish to himself. Good luck!”
Master Longbrow was still smug, hoping to see Ye Qiu embarrassed, when he suddenly noticed countless swordfish charging at him. Startled, he immediately used a Flame Talisman.
Boom!
Flames appeared.
But to his surprise, the swordfish didn’t flee or scatter upon seeing the fire. Instead, they surrounded him.
Soon, hundreds of swordfish were around Master Longbrow, eyeing him menacingly.
At the same time, they bared their teeth at him.
Master Longbrow’s scalp tingled.
“This Taoist is old and tough, why are you surrounding me? If you want food, go eat the little brat!”
In his panic, Ye Qiu’s voice reached him.
“Old thing, turn off the flashlight,” Ye Qiu transmitted secretly.
Master Longbrow reacted, quickly switching off the flashlight.
Then.
A scream echoed.
“Ah… this Taoist hit a rock, it hurts…”
