Miracle Doctor Chapter 851
Li Zhengxi couldn’t bear to see Li Minghan tortured by Ye Qiu any longer and said, “I’ll talk, I’ll talk…”
However, Ye Qiu didn’t stop.
“Bang!”
Ye Qiu threw a punch, breaking another of Li Minghan’s ribs.
“Ah—”
Li Minghan screamed in agony, writhing in pain.
“You bastard, what are you doing! Stop hitting Minghan, I’ll talk, I’ll tell you everything.”
Li Zhengxi said to Ye Qiu, “The plot to harm Old Xu was my doing alone, it has nothing to do with Minghan, let him go.”
Ye Qiu threw Li Minghan to the ground and said, “Li Zhengxi, you’d better tell me every detail of this matter. If I find out you’re hiding anything, I’ll kill Li Minghan right in front of you.”
Xu Zhiming shouted, “Li Zhengxi, what the hell is going on? Why did you plot to harm my father?”
Li Zhengxi took a deep breath and said, “This matter starts with the dispute between Chinese and Korean medicine.”
“When I went to China last time, I wanted to use my medical skills to defeat Ye Qiu and the four great Chinese medical masters, to prove to the world that Korean medicine is the greatest in the world.”
“If I succeeded, upon returning home, I would become a national hero, admired by thousands, and even the president would meet me.”
“But I never expected that China would become my nightmare.”
“Ye Qiu’s medical skills were just too extraordinary. I competed against him in so many matches, and I didn’t win a single one.”
“When this news reached Korea, many media outlets reported it. Not only did I fail to become a hero, but I was mocked by the Korean public.”
“Some said I overestimated myself, some said I brought shame upon myself, and others said I disgraced Korea…”
“In short, many people insulted me with all sorts of harsh words.”
Li Zhengxi’s face showed defiance as he continued, “I represented Korea to challenge Chinese medicine. Though I lost, I did my best. Even if I didn’t achieve glory, I put in the effort. Why should they insult me?”
“Not only did they insult me, but they also insulted Minghan and my family.”
“It didn’t stop there. After Minghan and I returned to Korea, we were like rats crossing the street, despised by everyone.”
“Minghan was sacked from his job, my students abandoned me, and all the honours I had worked so hard to achieve as Korea’s medical sage were gone overnight. I became a laughingstock in the Korean medical community.”
“Even the authorities wanted to charge Minghan and me with crimes.”
“Some people splashed paint on my doorstep and smashed my windows, making life unbearable for my entire family, with no peace day or night.”
“Korea no longer had a place for us.”
“So, Minghan and I decided to leave Korea and start a new life abroad.”
Hearing this, Ye Qiu understood Li Zhengxi’s motive for harming Old Xu and asked, “So, before leaving, you planned to get money from the Xu family?”
Li Zhengxi nodded.
“I did some research and found that living abroad requires a lot of money. I had to secure a large sum before leaving to ensure my family could live comfortably abroad.”
“Among the people I know, Old Xu is the wealthiest.”
“So, I set my sights on him.”
Xu Zhiming was furious and cursed, “You bastard, my father saved your life, and you still harmed him. You’re an ungrateful wretch.”
“Mr. Xu, I was desperate, I had no other choice but to resort to this.”
Li Zhengxi said, “Once I had my target, I began to make a plan.”
“My first thought was kidnapping, but Mr. Xu is a prominent figure with bodyguards, so I couldn’t act.”
“I had to think of another way.”
“At that time, I stumbled upon some information that a tomb-robbing gang had excavated an ancient tomb and retrieved many valuable items.”
“Knowing that Old Xu likes antiques, I contacted the gang and spent over a hundred million to buy a dozen ancient paintings.”
“After acquiring the paintings, I devised a new plan. I intended to coat the paintings with a slow-acting poison, and once Old Xu was poisoned, I would step in to treat him, taking the opportunity to get money from Mr. Xu.”
“But after much thought, poisoning was too risky.”
“Firstly, Korea has many skilled doctors who might be able to cure the poison, rendering my efforts futile.”
“Secondly, if the police investigated, I would be the prime suspect.”
“I thought for a long time but couldn’t come up with a perfect plan.”
“Unexpectedly, the leader of the tomb-robbing gang approached me again, offering to sell me a very special painting.”
Ye Qiu asked, “Was it Li Chengye’s painting?”
“Yes,” Li Zhengxi said. “When I saw that painting, I was stunned. I never imagined there could be such a magical painting. Just one glance, and I was trapped in an illusion, unable to break free.”
“The leader of the gang told me the painting was eerie, and if someone looked at it frequently, they would be forever trapped in the illusion, unable to wake up.”
“Without hesitation, I bought the painting.”
“I also researched Li Chengye’s background. He was a genius painter, known as a demon master, who had once used such paintings to kill an emperor.”
“Coincidentally, Old Xu was hosting a banquet at his home, which was a golden opportunity for me.”
“At the banquet, I presented the dozen ancient paintings to Old Xu, and as expected, he was delighted.”
“Later, when no one was paying attention, I secretly gave Old Xu Li Chengye’s painting. When he saw it, he was astonished…”
“Wait a moment!”
Ye Qiu suddenly interrupted Li Zhengxi and asked, “You just said that one needs to look at the painting frequently to become trapped in the illusion and not wake up. How could you be sure Old Xu would look at it often?”
Li Zhengxi replied, “I used a little trick.”
“When I handed the painting to Old Xu, I specifically told him that viewing it regularly would benefit his health and help him live a long life.”
“Later, when Old Xu fell into a coma, it proved he took my words to heart.”
That cunning old fox!
Ye Qiu cursed inwardly.
Xu Zhiming could no longer contain himself. He stepped forward and kicked Li Zhengxi to the ground, roaring, “You bastard, my father saved your life, and you came up with such a sinister plan to harm him. Are you even human?”
“I’ll kill you.”
Bang!
Xu Zhiming kicked Li Zhengxi again, still not satisfied, and rolled up his sleeves to hit him further.
“Uncle Xu, calm down,” Ye Qiu said. “The most urgent thing now is to wake Old Xu.”
Xu Zhiming suppressed his anger and asked Li Zhengxi, “Since you caused my father to fall into a coma, you should know how to wake him, right?”
Li Zhengxi nodded, “I do.”
“How?” Xu Zhiming asked.
Li Zhengxi said, “I know a way to wake Old Xu, but, Mr. Xu, you must agree to one condition of mine.”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 852
Li Zhengxi didn’t directly tell Xu Zhiming how to wake Old Xu, instead making a demand.
Slap!
Xu Zhiming struck Li Zhengxi across the face, cursing, “Who do you think you are to make demands of me?”
“Li Zhengxi, I advise you to make my father wake up immediately.”
“Otherwise, I won’t let you or your son off.”
However.
Li Zhengxi remained firm, “Mr. Xu, as long as you agree to my condition, I’ll make Old Xu wake up.”
“You—”
Xu Zhiming was about to strike again but was stopped by Ye Qiu.
“Uncle Xu, let’s hear what he has to say.” Ye Qiu asked Li Zhengxi, “What’s your condition?”
Li Zhengxi said, “Harming Old Xu was my doing alone, it has nothing to do with Minghan. Please, Mr. Xu, show mercy and don’t trouble Minghan.”
Xu Zhiming sneered, “Li Minghan is your son, how could he not be involved in this?”
“Don’t forget, earlier in my father’s bedroom, he took ten billion dollars from me.”
Li Zhengxi said, “That ten billion dollars was the deposit I demanded from you, Mr. Xu. I’ll have Minghan return it, so please don’t make things difficult for him.”
“As for myself…”
“Once Old Xu wakes up, let him deal with me personally.”
Xu Zhiming glanced at Li Minghan.
Li Minghan was lying on the ground, several ribs broken by Ye Qiu, groaning in pain like a stray dog.
After a few seconds of hesitation.
Xu Zhiming said, “Fine, I agree. Li Zhengxi, tell me, how can my father wake up?”
“Mr. Xu, words alone aren’t enough, I need you to swear to heaven,” Li Zhengxi said. “Just say that if you trouble Li Minghan, you’ll be struck by lightning and die a horrible death.”
Damn it!
Xu Zhiming was furious, “Li Zhengxi, don’t push your luck. If you annoy me, I’ll kill Li Minghan right now.”
Li Zhengxi remained calm, “If Minghan dies, then Old Xu will die too.”
“Mr. Xu, I advise you to do as I say.”
“You know Old Xu’s condition. If this continues, I can’t guarantee he’ll wake up.”
Xu Zhiming’s eyes blazed with fury, staring daggers at Li Zhengxi, “You’re threatening me?”
Li Zhengxi stayed silent.
Silence meant agreement.
Xu Zhiming clenched his fists, itching to beat Li Zhengxi to death. He couldn’t believe Li Zhengxi dared to threaten him at this moment.
Ye Qiu saw through it.
Li Zhengxi had confessed the entire plot, knowing he couldn’t escape blame. Thus, he didn’t care about angering Xu Zhiming, only about saving Li Minghan’s life.
Ye Qiu understood that if Xu Zhiming didn’t swear, Li Zhengxi would rather die than reveal how to wake Old Xu.
With this in mind.
Ye Qiu said, “Uncle Xu, for Old Xu’s sake, make the oath!”
Xu Zhiming took a deep breath, raised his right fist, and said, “I swear, if I trouble Li Minghan, I’ll be struck by lightning and die a horrible death.”
“Li Zhengxi, are you satisfied now?”
Li Zhengxi smiled, “Since Mr. Xu has sworn, I’ll keep my promise and save Old Xu.”
“Follow me.”
With that, Li Zhengxi took the painting, left the study, and led everyone to Old Xu’s bedroom.
Standing by Old Xu’s bed, Li Zhengxi took a lighter from his pocket.
“What are you doing?”
Xu Zhiming’s expression changed, and he shouted.
“Mr. Xu, no need to worry, I won’t harm Old Xu. I’m just going to burn this painting. Once it’s burned, Old Xu will wake up.”
Li Zhengxi lit the painting.
Soon, Li Chengye’s painting was reduced to ashes.
Ten seconds later.
Seeing no sign of Old Xu waking, Xu Zhiming asked, “Why hasn’t my father woken up?”
“Mr. Xu, don’t be impatient, just wait a little longer, and he’ll wake,” Li Zhengxi said.
Two minutes later.
Old Xu’s eyes remained closed, with no movement at all. Xu Zhiming asked again, “Didn’t you say burning the painting would wake my father?”
Li Zhengxi said, “Perhaps it hasn’t been long enough, just wait a bit more!”
Time ticked by.
Three minutes.
Four minutes.
Five minutes…
As time passed, Li Zhengxi’s face grew increasingly troubled, as he couldn’t understand why Old Xu still hadn’t woken.
In the blink of an eye.
Fifteen minutes passed.
Old Xu remained unchanged, motionless, showing no signs of waking.
“Li Zhengxi, what’s going on?” Xu Zhiming shouted angrily.
Li Zhengxi said, “The leader of the tomb-robbing gang told me when he sold me the painting that burning it would break the illusion, and the comatose person would wake.”
“Then why isn’t my father awake?”
“I, I don’t know, maybe we need to wait a bit longer.”
“You damn Li Zhengxi, even now you’re trying to deceive me. I think you’re asking for death.” Xu Zhiming rushed forward, slapping Li Zhengxi hard across the face.
Slap!
A bright red handprint appeared on Li Zhengxi’s face.
Xu Zhiming said coldly, “Li Zhengxi, I’m telling you, if my father doesn’t wake up, neither you nor Li Minghan will live.”
“Mr. Xu, don’t be hasty, let me check on Old Xu.” Li Zhengxi took Old Xu’s pulse.
After checking, Li Zhengxi panicked completely.
He found Old Xu’s pulse extremely weak, likely unable to last a day in this condition.
It’s over!
Completely over!
Li Zhengxi suddenly collapsed to the ground.
Xu Zhiming kicked him, roaring, “Get up!”
Li Zhengxi didn’t move.
Xu Zhiming kicked him a few more times, but Li Zhengxi still showed no response.
“Uncle Xu, don’t waste your energy.”
“This old guy has fainted. Even if you wake him, he can’t make Old Xu wake up.”
“Let me take a look at Old Xu!”
Ye Qiu checked Old Xu’s pulse for a while.
Old Xu’s pulse was very weak, and his condition was dire.
Then.
Ye Qiu activated his Heavenly Eye and observed closely, noticing that the dark aura around Old Xu’s forehead had vanished.
“The deathly aura is gone, meaning Old Xu isn’t destined to die.”
There’s still hope!
Ye Qiu’s eyes lit up, and he said immediately, “Changjin, quickly get me some alcohol swabs, I need to treat your grandfather.”
Xu Changjin rushed out and soon returned with a tray.
The tray held alcohol swabs.
Ye Qiu took a golden needle, disinfected it, and then pierced it into the centre of Old Xu’s forehead.
He used the Nine Heaven-Defying Needles, the first needle—
Exorcising Evil!
Miracle Doctor Chapter 853
Ye Qiu used the first needle of the Nine Heaven-Defying Needles, Exorcising Evil. After the golden needle pierced Old Xu’s forehead, he remained unconscious.
Ye Qiu took another golden needle and inserted it into the Baihui acupoint on top of Old Xu’s head.
This was the second needle, Expelling Malevolence!
After inserting this needle, Ye Qiu paused and waited for ten seconds.
However, Old Xu’s eyes remained closed, showing no signs of movement.
How could this be?
Ye Qiu frowned.
He had thought these two needles would wake Old Xu, but the result was deeply disappointing.
Next, Ye Qiu checked Old Xu’s pulse again.
The next moment, his frown deepened.
Xu Changjin couldn’t help but ask, “Ye Qiu oppa, my grandfather, he…”
“His condition is the same as before,” Ye Qiu said.
Hearing this, Xu Zhiming kicked Li Zhengxi twice.
“It’s all because of this bastard Li Zhengxi. If he hadn’t been so ungrateful and plotted against my father, he wouldn’t be in this state.”
“I really want to kill him.”
“Ye Qiu, my father… will he wake up?” Xu Zhiming asked nervously, looking at Ye Qiu.
“Uncle Xu, don’t worry, let me think of something.” Ye Qiu pondered for a moment, then took out seven golden needles, disinfected them with alcohol swabs, and swiftly inserted them into Old Xu’s chest.
Then, he flicked the tail of one needle with his finger.
“Buzz!”
The seven needles vibrated simultaneously, emitting a humming sound.
Ye Qiu was now using the Seven-Star Needle Technique.
After thirty seconds.
Old Xu still showed no signs of waking. Helplessly, Ye Qiu retrieved the seven needles with a sweep of his right hand.
“Strange, the deathly aura on Old Xu’s forehead has vanished, so he shouldn’t die, but why hasn’t his pulse changed?”
“Also, Li Chengye’s painting was sinister, and the Nine Heaven-Defying Needles should counter all malevolent forces. Why isn’t it working?”
“What went wrong?”
Ye Qiu now also wanted to kick Li Zhengxi. It was all because of this old man. If he hadn’t used such despicable means to extort money from the Xu family, Old Xu wouldn’t be lingering in this state.
What to do?
Ye Qiu glanced over and noticed tears in Xu Changjin’s eyes. Surprised, he asked, “Why are you crying?”
Xu Changjin said, “Ye Qiu oppa, is my grandfather never going to wake up?”
Ye Qiu comforted her, “He will wake up.”
“Don’t lie to me. If my grandfather was going to wake up, he would have by now.” Xu Changjin’s face was streaked with tears, looking pitiful.
Ye Qiu felt a pang of sympathy and said, “Changjin, trust me. I say your grandfather will wake up, and he will.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to make him wake up.”
“Give me some time.”
Ye Qiu then tried the Taiyi Divine Needle, the Thirteen Ghost Gate Needles, and other techniques, but Old Xu still didn’t respond.
Ye Qiu was getting frustrated.
He was the greatest medical sage in China in three hundred years. If he couldn’t save Old Xu, it would be a huge loss of face.
Even Xu Zhiming might start to doubt, thinking, Is this all the Chinese medical sage can do?
So, he had to find a way to wake Old Xu—for Xu Changjin, for himself, and for the reputation of Chinese medicine.
Ye Qiu continued the treatment.
This time, he abandoned acupuncture and instead held Old Xu’s wrist, channeling a strand of innate true qi into his body.
Soon, a look of joy appeared on Ye Qiu’s face.
The innate true qi was effective on Old Xu.
Ye Qiu noticed that after the true qi entered Old Xu’s body, his pulse went from weak to strong, now indistinguishable from a healthy person’s.
Moreover, some minor blockages in Old Xu’s blood vessels were cleared by the true qi.
At the same time, Ye Qiu saw Old Xu’s pale complexion turn rosy.
Ye Qiu continued to channel innate true qi into Old Xu’s body.
Gradually, the joy on his face faded.
After a while, Ye Qiu withdrew his hand, staring at Old Xu with a strange expression.
Seeing Ye Qiu’s look, Xu Zhiming asked, “Little Ye, what are you thinking?”
Ye Qiu replied, “Uncle Xu, after my treatment just now, Old Xu’s vital signs are completely normal, without the slightest issue.”
Xu Zhiming asked, “If my father’s body is fine, why isn’t he waking up?”
“To be honest, I’m as puzzled as you are, Uncle Xu.”
Ye Qiu couldn’t understand why, despite a perfectly healthy body, Old Xu wouldn’t wake up.
Xu Changjin said, “Could it be that burning the painting didn’t work, and Grandpa is still trapped in the illusion?”
Hearing this, Xu Zhiming said, “That’s possible. Should I wake Li Zhengxi and ask him?”
Ye Qiu said, “That old man probably doesn’t know anything. If he did, he would have said so already.”
“What do we do now?” Xu Zhiming looked worried.
At that moment, Xu Changjin’s mother, Song Huixian, walked in from outside and asked, “Zhiming, how’s Father doing?”
“When will he wake up?”
“Huh, isn’t that Li Zhengxi? Why is he unconscious?”
Song Huixian saw Li Zhengxi lying on the ground and asked, puzzled.
Her mention of Li Zhengxi reignited Xu Zhiming’s anger.
Bang, bang, bang!
Xu Zhiming kicked Li Zhengxi several times before saying to Song Huixian, “It’s all because of this bastard. If it weren’t for him, Father wouldn’t be like this.”
Song Huixian grew more confused. She had left when Li Zhengxi was performing his ritual for Old Xu in the bedroom, so she was unaware of what happened afterward.
“Does Father’s coma have something to do with Li Zhengxi?” Song Huixian asked.
“It has everything to do with him.” Xu Zhiming briefly recounted how Li Zhengxi had plotted against Old Xu.
After hearing this, Song Huixian was furious, saying, “That Li Zhengxi is truly an ungrateful wretch. If it weren’t for Father saving his life, he’d have died in China long ago.”
Xu Zhiming said, “That’s why seeing this guy makes me so angry. I really want to kill him.”
“Zhiming, don’t be rash. Let’s focus on finding a way to wake Father.”
Song Huixian asked about Ye Qiu’s treatment progress, then stared at Old Xu for a while and said, “Why does it seem like Father’s condition is like he’s lost his soul?”
Lost his soul?
Ye Qiu’s heart jolted. Yes, how could I have overlooked that?
Ye Qiu quickly grabbed a piece of Old Xu’s clothing and hung it on the bedpost, then traced his fingers over it while softly chanting, “Soul, come back, soul, come back…”
Moments later.
Old Xu’s body trembled slightly on the bed, then went still again.
“This didn’t work?”
Ye Qiu was stunned, then took out a golden needle and pierced it into Old Xu’s Shenting acupoint.
Five seconds later.
Old Xu, who had been in a coma, suddenly opened his eyes.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 854
After Old Xu opened his eyes, he sat up abruptly, coughing violently.
“Cough, cough…”
It was as if a fishbone was stuck in his throat.
“He’s awake, he’s awake!” Xu Zhiming exclaimed.
Ye Qiu quickly placed his right hand on Old Xu’s back, channeling a strand of innate true qi into him. Soon, Old Xu’s coughing subsided.
Then, Old Xu turned to Ye Qiu and said in Korean, “Wari wari…”
Ye Qiu was bewildered.
What does that mean?
Xu Zhiming introduced, “Dad, this is Ye Qiu, China’s medical sage, Changjin’s friend.”
Old Xu suddenly understood and said in Chinese, “Mr. Ye, hello.”
Ye Qiu smiled, “No need to be formal, Old Xu. Just call me by my name.”
Xu Zhiming added, “Dad, you were in a coma, and Ye Qiu cured you.”
“Thank you,” Old Xu said, expressing his gratitude to Ye Qiu again.
“A small effort, not worth mentioning,” Ye Qiu said with a slight smile, standing up and saying to Xu Zhiming, “Uncle Xu, I’ll step out for some fresh air.”
Old Xu had just woken up, and his family surely had much to discuss.
Xu Zhiming saw through Ye Qiu’s intentions and said, “Little Ye, no need to step away, we’re all family here.”
Old Xu asked, “Ye Qiu, may I ask what illness I had?”
“Old Xu, you weren’t ill,” Ye Qiu said.
Old Xu was stunned, “Not ill? Then why was I in a coma?”
“Old Xu, it’s better if Uncle Xu explains this to you.”
Xu Zhiming then briefly recounted how Li Zhengxi had plotted against Old Xu.
After hearing this, Old Xu’s face turned ashen with anger. He roared, “That scoundrel Li Zhengxi used such a vicious scheme to harm me. What an ungrateful wretch.”
“And to think he demanded ten billion dollars—what audacity.”
“Zhiming, go bring Li Zhengxi to me. I want to ask him where his conscience went!”
Xu Zhiming pointed to the floor, saying, “Dad, Li Zhengxi is right here.”
Old Xu leaned forward and saw Li Zhengxi unconscious on the ground. He asked, “What happened to him?”
“He’s in a coma.”
“Wake him up.”
“Yes!”
Xu Zhiming kicked Li Zhengxi twice, shouting, “Get up now!”
However, Li Zhengxi remained motionless, like a corpse.
“Bang!”
Xu Zhiming kicked him again, but Li Zhengxi still showed no reaction.
“I don’t believe I can’t wake you,” Xu Zhiming said, continuing to kick Li Zhengxi.
Li Zhengxi remained still.
Ye Qiu noticed Li Zhengxi’s eyelids flicker open briefly before closing again.
Is this guy pretending to be dead?
Ye Qiu sneered inwardly. At this point, does pretending to be dead help?
Xu Zhiming said helplessly, “Dad, Li Zhengxi probably won’t wake up for now…”
“Let me handle it!”
Before Xu Zhiming could finish, Ye Qiu grabbed a cup of hot water from the nearby dispenser and splashed it on Li Zhengxi’s face.
“Ah… it hurts, it hurts…”
Li Zhengxi screamed in pain, leaping up from the floor like a cat with its tail stepped on, clutching his face and spinning around the room in agony.
Old Xu glanced at Ye Qiu, a hint of surprise in his eyes, clearly not expecting Ye Qiu’s methods to be so decisive.
“Why pretend to be dead? You brought this on yourself,” Ye Qiu said with a laugh.
“What, he was pretending to be dead?” Xu Zhiming said, shocked.
“Yes, he woke up a while ago and has been faking it,” Ye Qiu said.
“Damn it, you dared to deceive me? I’ll kill you!” Xu Zhiming, furious, rushed forward, kicked Li Zhengxi to the ground, and straddled him, raining punches down like a storm.
Li Zhengxi held his head with both hands, pleading, “Mr. Xu, have mercy, have mercy…”
After a while.
Xu Zhiming, exhausted, stopped and grabbed Li Zhengxi by the collar, dragging him before Old Xu.
“Kneel!”
Thud.
Li Zhengxi knelt before Old Xu, sobbing, “Old Xu, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault…”
“Li Zhengxi, come here,” Old Xu said.
Li Zhengxi looked up at Old Xu, puzzled, unsure of his intentions.
“Are you deaf? My father told you to come closer,” Xu Zhiming shouted.
Li Zhengxi quickly stood, cautiously asking, “Old Xu, you…”
“Why are you standing so far away? I’m not going to eat you. Come closer,” Old Xu said with a smile.
Seeing Old Xu seemingly without malice, Li Zhengxi leaned forward and asked, “Old Xu, what are your orders?”
“Closer.”
Li Zhengxi stretched his neck, bringing his face close to Old Xu’s. At that moment, Old Xu suddenly slapped him across the face.
Slap!
The crisp sound of the slap echoed through the room.
The blow left Li Zhengxi’s mouth bleeding. He knelt in fear, saying, “Old Xu, I’m sorry. I was blinded by greed to do such a thing to you. Please spare me.”
“If you spare me, I’ll serve you like a slave in the future.”
“Mr. Xu, I beg you.”
Li Zhengxi kept kowtowing, his head hitting the floor with loud thuds, soon breaking the skin on his forehead, blood trickling down.
Xu Zhiming said, “Father, don’t let him off. Send him to prison and let him rot there.”
Li Zhengxi pleaded again, “Old Xu, for the sake of my past treatment of you, please give me a chance to live.”
“I swear I’ll never do this again.”
“I beg you.”
Li Zhengxi continued kowtowing.
He knew his life was entirely in Old Xu’s hands, and he had to beg for forgiveness no matter what.
Three minutes passed.
Old Xu finally spoke, “Li Zhengxi, I don’t want to see you in Korea ever again.”
Li Zhengxi looked up in disbelief at Old Xu.
Just letting me go like that?
Xu Zhiming hurriedly said, “Father, you can’t be soft-hearted. This guy went too far. He must pay a price.”
Seeing Li Zhengxi still on the ground, Old Xu shouted, “Get out!”
“Thank you, Old Xu, thank you!” Li Zhengxi kowtowed a few more times, then fled the bedroom as if his life depended on it.
“Father, why did you let him go?” Xu Zhiming complained.
“I’m old, my heart’s not as ruthless as it used to be,” Old Xu said to Ye Qiu, “I must have made a fool of myself.”
Ye Qiu replied, “Old Xu, you’re too kind. Your magnanimity is truly admirable. I’m a bit tired, so I’ll step out to rest for a bit.”
“Changjin, go with Ye Qiu and show him around,” Xu Zhiming said.
Xu Changjin nodded and accompanied Ye Qiu out of Old Xu’s bedroom.
As Ye Qiu left, a flash of killing intent appeared in his eyes. Though Old Xu had spared Li Zhengxi, Ye Qiu had no intention of letting him off.
Some people in this world don’t deserve to live!
Miracle Doctor Chapter 855
In Xu Lao’s bedroom:
After Ye Qiu and Xu Changjin left, Xu Zhiming immediately said, “Father, I should call the police and have Li Zhengxi arrested and sentenced to death.”
Xu Lao shook his head, “No need.”
“How is there no need? He made a mistake and should pay the price! No, Li Zhengxi didn’t just make a mistake—he committed a crime. Even if he isn’t killed, he should spend the rest of his life in prison to prevent him from harming others,” Xu Zhiming said angrily.
Xu Lao replied, “There’s an old Chinese saying: ‘Those who do much evil will bring ruin upon themselves.’”
“If Li Zhengxi reforms and turns to good, he might find redemption. If he continues his evil ways, he’ll pay the price one day.”
Xu Zhiming said helplessly, “Father, you’re too kind-hearted. If it were me, I wouldn’t let Li Zhengxi off.”
Xu Lao smiled, “Li Zhengxi once treated my illness. Let’s call it even this time. Zhiming, don’t be angry—anger harms the body.”
Xu Zhiming nodded. Since Xu Lao had let Li Zhengxi go, he couldn’t say much more.
At that moment, Song Huixian poured a glass of boiled water and handed it to Xu Lao.
Xu Lao took a sip and asked, “By the way, what’s the deal with Ye Qiu?”
Xu Zhiming answered, “Ye Qiu is China’s Medical Sage, with exceptional medical skills…”
“I already know that. Didn’t Li Zhengxi lose to him in the recent China-Korea medical dispute?” Xu Lao said. “I’m asking about Ye Qiu’s relationship with Changjin.”
Xu Zhiming said, “They’re friends.”
Xu Lao pressed, “Are they just friends, or are they dating?”
This…
Xu Zhiming hesitated.
“Speak freely,” Xu Lao said. “Don’t hide anything.”
Xu Zhiming then said, “I observed them quietly. They’re not a couple, but it seems Changjin likes Ye Qiu.”
“What do you think of Ye Qiu as a person?” Xu Lao asked.
Xu Zhiming thought for a moment and replied, “Ye Qiu is an outstanding young man. If nurtured well, his future is limitless.”
Xu Lao turned to Song Huixian, “What do you think of Ye Qiu?”
Song Huixian smiled, “Ye Qiu’s pretty good.”
Xu Lao said, “Since both of you think highly of Ye Qiu, I’ll be blunt. I’ve taken a liking to him and intend for him to be my grandson-in-law.”
What?
Xu Zhiming and Song Huixian exchanged glances.
“Father, you’ve only met Ye Qiu once and already want him as your grandson-in-law? Isn’t that a bit hasty?”
Xu Lao replied, “Trust my judgment. Ye Qiu is no ordinary man—he’s destined to soar.”
“But Ye Qiu is Chinese…”
“So what? In ancient times, our country was ruled by China.”
Xu Zhiming was at a loss for words, unsure how to argue.
Song Huixian hesitated to speak.
Xu Lao noticed her expression and said, “Huixian, say what’s on your mind!”
Song Huixian said, “Ye Qiu is so outstanding and handsome. I worry he might already have a girlfriend in China.”
Xu Zhiming added, “I recall Li Zhengxi mentioning that Ye Qiu has several close female friends in China.”
Xu Lao frowned.
He hadn’t considered this.
“No rush. I’ll find a chance to test Ye Qiu later.”
Just then, a bodyguard shouted from outside, “Mr. Xu, bad news! Li Zhengxi and his son are dead!”
…
Fifteen minutes earlier:
After leaving Xu Lao’s bedroom, Ye Qiu and Xu Changjin headed downstairs to the main gate, where they ran into Li Zhengxi and his son.
Li Zhengxi had blood on his forehead, slap marks on his face, and was supporting Li Minghan, whose ribs were broken, looking disheveled.
“Well, isn’t this the Great Korean Medical Sage? What a coincidence!” Ye Qiu said with a smile.
Li Zhengxi shot Ye Qiu a venomous glance.
Coincidence, my foot—didn’t we just see each other?
Li Zhengxi wanted nothing more than to kill Ye Qiu. If not for him, he and Li Minghan wouldn’t be in this mess, and they might have swindled that hundred billion dollars from Xu Zhiming.
Ye Qiu said, “Li Zhengxi, though Xu Lao was magnanimous and let you off, I advise you to do more good and less evil from now on.”
“As a doctor, you should uphold medical ethics.”
“If you keep this up, even if someone spares your life, heaven won’t.”
Li Zhengxi said coldly, “My affairs are none of your business.”
“Ye Qiu, Xu Lao let me go. Are you disappointed?”
“Let me tell you, I’m not done with this. You broke Minghan’s ribs, and I’ll make sure you pay with your life.”
Ye Qiu smiled, “You’re threatening me?”
“This isn’t a threat—it’s a reminder. Ye Qiu, your days are numbered,” Li Zhengxi gritted his teeth. “This is Korea, not China. I won’t let you leave alive.”
Ye Qiu’s smile widened, “Too bad you won’t get the chance to kill me.”
“What do you mean?” Li Zhengxi asked.
Ye Qiu just smiled, saying nothing.
“Dad, it hurts so much. Get me to the hospital,” Li Minghan groaned.
“Ye Qiu, you wait,” Li Zhengxi said, helping Li Minghan toward the roadside.
Their car was parked there.
As they turned, Ye Qiu’s left hand moved behind his back, subtly drawing a talisman.
As Li Zhengxi and his son neared the car, with Li Minghan’s right foot already in the door, a truck suddenly barreled in, crashing into their vehicle.
With a loud “bang,” Li Zhengxi and Li Minghan were thrown several meters, landing in the middle of the road.
Before they could get up, a black sedan sped over Li Minghan’s legs.
Crack!
Li Minghan’s legs broke, and he let out a piercing scream, “Ah…”
“Minghan, Minghan!” Li Zhengxi scrambled to his son, tears streaming, and called for an ambulance.
Within five minutes, an ambulance arrived.
Two paramedics placed Li Minghan on a stretcher to load him into the ambulance. But as they lifted him, the stretcher slipped, crashing to the ground. Li Minghan’s head hit first, and he died instantly.
“Minghan, Minghan, my son…” Li Zhengxi threw himself over Li Minghan’s body, sobbing like a madman.
Moments later, Li Zhengxi lunged at the paramedics, punching and kicking, “Give me back my son, give me back my son…”
The paramedics backed away, dodging him.
Chasing them, Li Zhengxi slipped and fell face-first.
At that moment, a roadside ornamental tree snapped, and its basin-sized trunk fell directly onto Li Zhengxi’s neck.
Crack!
Li Zhengxi’s neck twisted, and he died, eyes wide open.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 856
Xu Changjin was dumbfounded.
It took a long while before she snapped out of it and asked, “Li Zhengxi and his son… are they dead?”
“Yes, dead,” Ye Qiu replied calmly.
Xu Changjin said, “I never thought they’d die in such a way, it’s too unbelievable.”
Ye Qiu sneered, “They did too many evil deeds, they deserved it.”
Xu Changjin couldn’t bear the scene and said, “Ye Qiu oppa, shall we go back?”
“Alright.”
With that, the two prepared to leave.
Xu Changjin added, “Ye Qiu oppa, thank you for saving my grandfather.”
Ye Qiu smiled, “Why so formal? We’re friends.”
Just friends?
Xu Changjin felt a pang of disappointment. Summoning courage from nowhere, she suddenly stood on tiptoe, turned her head, and kissed Ye Qiu on the lips, her arms wrapping around his neck.
In an instant, Ye Qiu’s eyes widened, his mind reeling.
I’ve been forcibly kissed?
At that moment, Elder Xu, Xu Zhiming, and Song Huixian emerged from the villa, witnessing the scene.
“Zhiming, didn’t you say they weren’t dating? What’s this about?” Elder Xu asked.
Xu Zhiming scratched his head and asked Song Huixian, “What’s going on here?”
Song Huixian replied, “What else? Your daughter’s about to run off with someone.”
Xu Zhiming shouted, “Ye Qiu, let go of my daughter!”
The loud shout startled Xu Changjin and Ye Qiu.
Xu Changjin quickly released Ye Qiu, her face flushing red, wishing she could disappear into the ground.
She hadn’t expected her parents to witness such a moment.
Utterly mortifying.
Xu Zhiming strode up to Ye Qiu and demanded, “What’s going on here?”
Why don’t you ask your daughter what happened?
Ye Qiu grumbled inwardly but said, “Uncle Xu, let me explain…”
Xu Zhiming interrupted, “What’s there to explain? I saw you kissing my daughter with my own eyes.”
It was your daughter who kissed me, alright?
I’m the victim here!
But such things were hard to explain.
Ye Qiu could only say, “Uncle Xu, let’s discuss this later.”
Xu Zhiming pressed, “No need to wait, I want a commitment from you now.”
“What commitment?” Ye Qiu asked.
Xu Zhiming said, “I want you to promise to take responsibility for my daughter.”
What?
She kissed me once, and I have to take responsibility?
You’re trying to scam me!
Ye Qiu wasn’t naive and saw through Xu Zhiming’s intentions. He said, “Uncle Xu, this isn’t a joking matter. Changjin is your precious daughter, of noble status. I’m just a small-time doctor, how could I take responsibility for her?”
Xu Zhiming’s face darkened, “So you’re saying you kissed my daughter and won’t take responsibility?”
“Ye Qiu, you’re such a scumbag!”
“Even though you cured my father, if you refuse to take responsibility for Changjin, don’t blame me for being harsh.”
Seeing her father’s anger, Xu Changjin hurriedly said, “Dad, it’s not Ye Qiu’s fault. I kissed him first.”
Hearing this, Xu Zhiming was furious, pointing at Xu Changjin’s head and scolding, “You fool.”
His plan was to use this opportunity to push Ye Qiu into becoming his son-in-law.
But Xu Changjin’s defence of Ye Qiu made it hard for him to press further.
In fact, Xu Zhiming felt a bit embarrassed.
Your daughter kissed someone, yet_you’re_ demanding they take responsibility? Isn’t that shameless?
At this point, Elder Xu changed the subject.
“Changjin, how did Li Zhengxi and his son die?” Elder Xu asked.
Xu Changjin set aside her embarrassment and recounted the events of Li Zhengxi and his son’s deaths.
After hearing it, Elder Xu and the others were stunned.
“They died in such a bizarre way?” Song Huixian remarked.
Xu Zhiming said, “Father was right, heaven watches what people do. Li Zhengxi and his son did too many bad things, even the heavens couldn’t stand it.”
Elder Xu glanced at Ye Qiu a few times.
He felt that the deaths of Li Zhengxi and his son weren’t as simple as they seemed.
As Song Huixian said, their deaths were bizarre, and the timing—happening when Ye Qiu was present—was too convenient.
Could their deaths be related to Ye Qiu?
If Ye Qiu was involved, how did he do it?
Elder Xu pondered for a while but couldn’t figure it out. He decided to drop it and said, “Ye Qiu, during the last China-Korea medical dispute, Li Zhengxi approached me, asking me to plead with you to spare him.”
“I sent Changjin to talk to you, promising that if you let Li Zhengxi go, I’d give you the Tiansheng Bronze Man.”
“Come, I’ll show you the Tiansheng Bronze Man.”
With that, Elder Xu led Ye Qiu to the villa’s basement.
The basement had three security doors: the first with a smart lock, the second requiring iris recognition, and the third with an ancient, complex copper lock.
Surveillance cameras were everywhere.
Ye Qiu thought, with such tight security, there must be plenty of treasures inside.
Clang!
After the third security door opened, a dim corridor appeared.
Western oil paintings hung on the corridor walls.
Xu Changjin, walking beside Ye Qiu, explained, “Grandfather enjoys collecting antiques. This is his treasure vault.”
“Every item here is a masterpiece.”
“That painting is by Van Gogh, and that one is an authentic Picasso…”
Xu Changjin introduced over a dozen paintings.
Each had a significant history.
They passed through the corridor, and the space opened up.
Ye Qiu looked up, his face full of awe.
The several-hundred-square-metre basement resembled a small museum, filled with all sorts of rare antiques.
Ye Qiu’s eyes immediately locked onto the Tiansheng Bronze Man.
Finally, he saw this sacred relic!
Ye Qiu’s heart raced as he quickly approached the Tiansheng Bronze Man, examining it closely.
The Tiansheng Bronze Man was exactly as he’d seen in photos, about the height of an adult, with hundreds of acupuncture points engraved on it, each labelled with its name.
Elder Xu said, “I had it appraised, it’s genuine.”
“Ye Qiu, from now on, it’s yours.”
“When you return to China, I’ll arrange for it to to be sent to you.”
Ye Qiu turned, bowed respectfully to Elder Xu, and said solemnly, “Elder Xu, thank you.”
“This item is of immense significance to Chinese medicine. Thank you for your contribution to Chinese medicine, I’ll never forget it.”
Elder Xu smiled, “No need for thanks. By the way, you saved my life, and I haven’t repaid you yet. Take a look around, if you see anything you like, just say so.”
“Elder Xu, you’re too kind. Healing is my duty, you don’t need to thank me…”
Before Ye Qiu could finish, his gaze suddenly fell to the side, his face showing surprise, “Huh?”
Miracle Doctor Chapter 857
Ye Qiu’s eyes fixed on a corner, his face showing surprise.
He saw a cauldron.
Though only the size of a fist, it exuded an ancient, grand, and solemn aura.
The cauldron had three legs, cast in bronze, adorned with intricate dragon patterns.
Ye Qiu recognised it instantly.
“This is… the Qiankun Cauldron!”
His heart jolted.
The last time he accompanied Master Longbrow to retrieve the Heavenly Master Sword, he had obtained a Qiankun Cauldron at Dalong Mountain, a gift from Master Zhang.
“Why would Elder Xu have a Qiankun Cauldron here?”
Ye Qiu was puzzled.
Seeing Ye Qiu staring at the cauldron, Elder Xu smiled and asked, “What, you like this cauldron?”
Ye Qiu nodded.
“I’d suggest you pick something else!” Elder Xu said.
Ye Qiu, confused, asked, “Why?”
Elder Xu explained, “It’s not that I’m reluctant to give it to you, but though this cauldron is small, it’s incredibly heavy.”
Xu Zhiming added, “Ye Qiu, don’t underestimate this cauldron. When Father had it moved here, it took eight strong bodyguards, and they were exhausted.”
Elder Xu continued, “I estimate this cauldron weighs at least two thousand jin.”
“It’s very inconvenient to transport.”
“Little Ye, pick something else!”
Ye Qiu said, “Elder Xu, everything here is a treasure, priceless, but I don’t care for the others, I only like this cauldron.”
Elder Xu was surprised but said, “Since you like it, Little Ye, I’ll give it to you. I’ll arrange for it to be shipped to China later.”
“No trouble needed, I can take it back myself,” Ye Qiu said, stepping forward and grasping the cauldron’s leg.
Seeing Ye Qiu’s actions, Xu Zhiming laughed, “Ye Qiu, you’re not thinking of lifting this little cauldron, are you?”
“I’d advise you to give up that idea!”
“I just told you, this cauldron is heavy, you can’t possibly lift it…”
Before Xu Zhiming could finish, his voice stopped abruptly as Ye Qiu lifted the Qiankun Cauldron with one hand.
“Bloody hell!”
Xu Zhiming exclaimed, staring at Ye Qiu in shock. Ye Qiu’s face wasn’t flushed, nor was he out of breath, as if he were holding not a cauldron weighing thousands of jin, but a ball of cotton.
Elder Xu, a man of experience, was equally stunned, his aged face filled with disbelief.
“This, how is this possible!”
Thinking he’d seen wrong, Elder Xu rubbed his eyes. Looking again, Ye Qiu was indeed holding the Qiankun Cauldron.
He lifted it?
With just one hand?
Elder Xu’s heart surged with shock.
When he first acquired the cauldron, moving it home had been a massive effort, yet now Ye Qiu had lifted it effortlessly.
What kind of freak was this kid?
While Elder Xu was stunned, Ye Qiu held the Qiankun Cauldron in his palm, examining it closely.
He noticed that its size, shape, weight, and patterns were identical to the Qiankun Cauldron Master Zhang had given him.
No doubt, this Qiankun Cauldron was genuine.
After a while, Ye Qiu said, “Elder Xu, you won’t regret letting me take it, will you?”
Elder Xu laughed heartily, “As long as you like it, it’s fine. Ye Qiu, I never would’ve guessed, you look so refined, yet your strength is immense.”
Xu Zhiming asked, “Ye Qiu, how do you have such strength?”
Since he’d already shocked everyone, Ye Qiu decided to go all in.
“Uncle Xu, have you heard of natural-born strength?” Ye Qiu asked.
Xu Zhiming nodded, “Yes, some people are born with immense strength. Why do you ask, Ye Qiu, are you…?”
“Yes, I was born with extraordinary strength,” Ye Qiu said. “When I was born, I was stronger than an adult. At five, I killed a cow with one punch.”
Hiss—
Xu Zhiming gasped.
If anyone else had said this, he wouldn’t have believed it, but coming from Ye Qiu, he had no choice but to believe.
How else could Ye Qiu lift a Qiankun Cauldron weighing over two thousand jin with one hand?
Song Huixian marvelled, “Ye Qiu, in ancient times, with that strength, you could’ve been a battlefield hero, perhaps even enfeoffed as a marquis.”
“You’re too kind, Auntie. In today’s world, strength alone isn’t enough, you need wisdom,” Ye Qiu said modestly.
While they spoke, Elder Xu quietly observed Ye Qiu, growing more satisfied.
“I must make Ye Qiu my granddaughter’s husband!”
“With his strength and medical skills, he can protect Changjin and help her manage Tianxing Group!”
“Then, when I pass away, I’ll have no worries!”
With this in mind, Elder Xu said, “Ye Qiu, take another look. If you see anything in this room you like, just say so.”
You can’t catch a son-in-law without parting with treasures.
Elder Xu was prepared to spare no expense to make Ye Qiu his granddaughter’s husband.
Ye Qiu was flattered, saying, “Elder Xu, you’re too generous. You’ve already given me the Tiansheng Bronze Man and this cauldron, I’m deeply grateful. How could I ask for more treasures?”
Elder Xu smiled, “Ye Qiu, don’t be shy. Pick anything. If you like everything in this room, I’ll give it all to you.”
Hearing this, Xu Zhiming and Song Huixian exchanged shocked glances.
They knew well that the treasures in this room were worth billions, many being unique masterpieces that would fetch even higher prices at auction.
Their father had spent half his life collecting these treasures, cherishing them deeply. Normally, even his old friends weren’t allowed to view the treasure vault.
Yet today, not only had he given Ye Qiu the Tiansheng Bronze Man and the cauldron, but he also offered to give away the entire room’s treasures if Ye Qiu wanted them. It was unbelievable.
What was their father’s purpose?
While Xu Zhiming and his wife were puzzled, Ye Qiu was equally confused.
What was Elder Xu’s aim?
He firmly believed that Elder Xu, a shrewd old man, wouldn’t be so generous without reason.
But Ye Qiu couldn’t figure out his motive.
He didn’t dwell on it, as he wasn’t interested in these treasures.
“A gentleman doesn’t take what others cherish. Thank you for your kindness, Elder Xu, I appreciate it,” Ye Qiu said.
Elder Xu laughed, “Ye Qiu, if you don’t like these treasures, how about I give you a pearl?”
Pearl—
At those words, Xu Changjin’s face flushed red. She stole a glance at Ye Qiu, then quickly lowered her head.
Xu Zhiming and Song Huixian both looked at Ye Qiu.
Ye Qiu wasn’t foolish; he understood Elder Xu’s meaning. Just as he was unsure how to respond, his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 858
Ye Qiu pulled out his phone and saw it was a call from War God.
“Elder Xu, sorry, this is a very important call, I must take it.”
Ye Qiu even showed Elder Xu the caller ID.
Elder Xu, a friend of War God, saw the ID and smiled, “It’s War God’s call, go answer it!”
Ye Qiu quickly left the treasure vault.
Outside the villa, he answered the phone.
“Why did it take you so long to pick up? Don’t tell me you’re messing around with some woman again?” War God’s voice carried a hint of displeasure.
Ye Qiu laughed, “I’m not messing around, I’m at the Xu family’s place.”
“How’s Xu Yuanzheng’s condition?” War God asked.
“He’s fully recovered,” Ye Qiu replied.
War God chuckled, “I knew it. With you on the case, Xu Yuanzheng was bound to be fine.”
“Chief, is there something you need?” Ye Qiu asked.
“Two things!” War God said, “First, Cao Yuan has led the Dragon Gate disciples into Miaojiang, officially launching a full-scale attack on the Witch God Sect.”
“I just got word that Cao Yuan’s moving fast. He’s wiped out dozens of the Witch God Sect’s branches with lightning speed, killed thousands of their members, and is now less than a hundred li from their headquarters.”
“By tomorrow morning, you might hear news of the Witch God Sect’s total destruction.”
Ye Qiu was shocked.
He hadn’t expected Cao Yuan to move so swiftly.
“Nine Thousand Years is fierce!” Ye Qiu exclaimed.
War God laughed, “I told you before, Cao Yuan plans thoroughly before acting. Before attacking the Witch God Sect, he must’ve made comprehensive preparations. Once he strikes, it’s like a storm, leaving no room for the Witch God Sect to breathe.”
Ye Qiu said, “Chief, the Witch God Sect has been entrenched in Miaojiang for years and has fought Dragon Gate for so long. They shouldn’t fall this quickly, should they?”
War God understood Ye Qiu’s concern and asked, “You’re worried they’re luring the enemy in?”
“Yes,” Ye Qiu affirmed.
War God smiled, “Do you think Cao Yuan wouldn’t consider something you’ve thought of?”
Ye Qiu paused.
War God continued, “Don’t underestimate Cao Yuan. In just over a year, he built Dragon Gate into what it is today, with methods beyond ordinary people.”
“He recruits talent widely, uses people wisely, and manages Dragon Gate impeccably, with exceptional leadership.”
“Back then, Cao Yuan’s beloved died before his eyes, his cultivation was ruined, and he became a eunuch. Most would’ve given up, but Cao Yuan endured humiliation and hardship for years, later founding Dragon Gate and becoming the Witch God Sect’s nightmare. That shows his immense perseverance.”
“It’s a pity Cao Yuan wouldn’t join Hades Hall, or I’d have him lead it.”
Ye Qiu said, “I’m not underestimating Nine Thousand Years, I’m worried about him.”
“This decisive battle came too suddenly.”
“I’m afraid the Witch God Sect has some scheme.”
War God replied, “Trust Cao Yuan. Without absolute certainty, he wouldn’t launch a final battle against the Witch God Sect.”
Ye Qiu asked, “I hope to hear news of the Witch God Sect’s destruction soon. Chief, what’s the second matter?”
War God said, “I have a mission for you.”
“What mission?”
War God’s tone grew serious, “I received a tip that Zhang Zihao has appeared in Korea.”
Ye Qiu frowned, “Zhang Zihao? Who’s that?”
War God: “…”
The line went silent for a moment.
When War God didn’t respond, Ye Qiu asked, “Is Zhang Zihao one of ours? I’m not familiar with him.”
War God sounded exasperated, “Don’t you watch the news?”
Ye Qiu said, “I’m swamped, where do I have time for news?”
War God explained, “Zhang Zihao is a notorious bandit.”
“For ten years, Zhang Zihao has committed several major crimes in Hong Kong.”
“Through violent robberies, murders, and kidnappings, he’s extorted billions.”
“Among those he kidnapped were several Hong Kong tycoons, each paying ransoms of up to 200 million.”
“For years, Hong Kong police have been after him.”
“But Zhang Zihao is cunning, escaping multiple times. For the past three years, he’s been off the radar, presumed dead.”
“Until today, I got word he’s in Korea.”
“According to the tip, Zhang Zihao and his accomplices recently stole from a royal tomb in Korea, taking many valuable items.”
“Korean authorities, investigating the tomb theft, caught one of Zhang Zihao’s accomplices.”
“That accomplice revealed Zhang Zihao is planning a kidnapping, targeting Tianxing Group’s chairman, Xu Yuanzheng.”
Ye Qiu’s brow rose.
Was this Zhang Zihao mad?
Kidnapping Elder Xu? Wasn’t that asking for death?
The Xu family had tight security, with plenty of bodyguards inside and out.
“You think Zhang Zihao’s crazy? Let me tell you, when he planned to kidnap Hong Kong tycoons, they didn’t take him seriously either, thinking their bodyguards made them untouchable. Yet, Zhang Zihao still got them.”
War God said, “Zhang Zihao is bold and ruthless, caring nothing for martial world ethics. He’ll do anything for money.”
“Plus, Zhang Zihao’s skilled and armed.”
“If he’s targeting Xu Yuanzheng, knowing his character, he’ll follow through.”
“Ye Qiu, since you’re at the Xu family’s, protect Xu Yuanzheng.”
“And watch out for the safety of the rest of the Xu family, in case Zhang Zihao targets them.”
Ye Qiu grimaced, “Chief, you’re putting me in a tough spot.”
“I’m not a bodyguard. How can I stay by Xu Yuanzheng’s side all the time? I’m planning to return to China soon to improve my strength.”
“How about you tell me Zhang Zihao’s whereabouts, and I’ll take him out now.”
War God said, “I’ve already got people looking for Zhang Zihao.”
“Once we find him, I’ll notify you immediately.”
“Until then, stay with the Xu family and protect Xu Yuanzheng. That’s an order.”
Ye Qiu had no choice but to comply, “Chief, I’ll agree, but I have one condition.”
“Name it.”
“I can only stay in Korea for a week at most. If you don’t find Zhang Zihao within that time, I’m going back to China,” Ye Qiu said.
“No need for a week, give me seventy-two hours!”
With that, War God hung up.
Just then, Elder Xu and his family emerged from the treasure vault.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 859
Ye Qiu noticed Elder Xu’s stern expression, the solemn looks on Xu Zhiming and his wife, and the tension in Xu Changjin’s eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Ye Qiu asked, sensing something amiss.
“Something’s happened…” Xu Zhiming began, but Elder Xu cut in, “Changjin’s uncle is missing.”
What? Ye Qiu was surprised; he’d never heard Xu Changjin had an uncle.
Elder Xu explained, “Changjin’s grandmother passed away early. Later, I developed feelings for my secretary. To pressure me into marriage, she didn’t tell me she was pregnant until after the child was born.”
Ye Qiu mentally gave Elder Xu a thumbs-up.
Impressive, old man! So, it’s a case of ‘work with the secretary when there’s work, and when there’s none…’
Elder Xu continued, “I didn’t want to marry her, so she left with the child.”
“A few years later, she died of illness.”
“I wanted to bring my son home, but he hated me, refused to return, and rejected my support, treating me like an enemy.”
“Years have passed, and he’s grown up.”
“He’s done well for himself, making it big in the entertainment industry without my help, becoming a household name.”
“His name is Jin Changxu. Have you heard of him?”
Ye Qiu nodded, “Yes, quite handsome.”
Not long ago, he’d seen Lin Jingzhi watching a Korean drama with Jin Changxu as the lead.
Elder Xu said, “Though Changxu never acknowledged me as his father and took his mother’s surname, I’ve kept tabs on him. I just learned he’s gone missing.”
Ye Qiu asked, “Elder Xu, what do you mean by ‘missing’?”
Elder Xu said gravely, “I suspect Changxu has been kidnapped.”
Kidnapped? Ye Qiu immediately thought of War God’s call.
Could it be Zhang Zihao’s doing?
Ye Qiu asked, “Elder Xu, how many people in Korea know about your relationship with Jin Changxu?”
Elder Xu replied, “A couple of years ago, some gossip news speculated that Changxu is my illegitimate son. As he’s a celebrity, I didn’t confirm it publicly to protect his career.”
Xu Zhiming said, “Father, I think we should call the police and let them handle it.”
Elder Xu shook his head, “Not yet. If Changxu was kidnapped, they’ll likely demand a ransom, and that’ll give us a lead on his whereabouts…”
At that moment, Xu Zhiming’s phone rang.
“This is Xu Zhiming,” he answered, listened briefly, then put it on speaker, saying, “Father, it’s for you.”
“Who’s calling?” Elder Xu asked.
Xu Zhiming said, “I don’t know, they’re speaking Chinese.”
A man’s voice came through, “I’m looking for Xu Yuanzheng. Put him on.”
Elder Xu said, “This is Xu Yuanzheng.”
The man replied, “Hello, Mr. Xu, I’m Zhang Zihao.”
Ye Qiu’s brow twitched.
Zhang Zihao calling now? Definitely not good news.
Elder Xu, puzzled, said, “Zhang Zihao?”
Zhang Zihao laughed, “Though we’ve never met, Mr. Xu, as a top tycoon in Korea, you must’ve heard of my exploits. I’ve kidnapped several Hong Kong business magnates.”
Elder Xu recalled the name, showing no trace of panic, and asked, “Mr. Zhang, what’s the purpose of your call?”
Zhang Zihao chuckled, “Jin Changxu is your son, right? He’s in my hands.”
Elder Xu remained calm, “You’re not just calling to tell me that, are you? What are your demands? Speak plainly.”
Zhang Zihao said, “To show my sincerity, I’d like to come to your home to discuss in person. Are you open to that, Mr. Xu?”
Elder Xu was taken aback.
Not only had Zhang Zihao kidnapped his son, but he also wanted to meet face-to-face at his home? The audacity!
Ye Qiu was equally surprised.
He’d never met such a bold kidnapper.
Elder Xu paused briefly, then said, “Of course, you’re welcome. When will you arrive, Mr. Zhang? I’m at your disposal.”
Zhang Zihao replied, “I’m already on my way, I’ll be there soon. You know the rules, right?”
Elder Xu assured, “Rest easy, as long as you don’t harm Changxu, I guarantee I won’t call the police.”
“Good, see you soon.”
The call ended.
Xu Zhiming fumed, “This Zhang Zihao is too arrogant. Father, I’ll arrange bodyguards to grab him when he arrives.”
Elder Xu shook his head, “Changxu is still in his hands, don’t act rashly.”
“What if Zhang Zihao comes and harms you?” Xu Zhiming said, “I’ve heard this guy doesn’t care for martial world ethics. He’s a vile scoundrel.”
“Father, should I call the police?”
Elder Xu stopped him, “I said I wouldn’t call the police, and I keep my word.”
“Don’t worry, Zhang Zihao won’t hurt me. He’s only after money.”
“Let’s go to the entrance to greet this infamous Hong Kong bandit.”
Xu Zhiming was still uneasy, “Dad, I’ll call a few bodyguards to protect you.”
Ye Qiu said, “Uncle Xu, no need for bodyguards. With me here, Zhang Zihao won’t hurt anyone.”
“You?” Xu Zhiming looked at Ye Qiu skeptically, as if to say, *Can you handle it?*
“Uncle Xu, have you forgotten? I have natural-born strength. If Zhang Zihao tries anything, I’ll knock him out with one punch,” Ye Qiu said, waving his fist.
Xu Zhiming remained concerned, “What if he has a gun?”
“Zhiming, why are you so timid? He’s just a bandit, is there need for such worry?” Elder Xu scolded, then led the way outside.
Ye Qiu quickly followed.
As they reached the entrance, a black Mercedes stopped in front of them.
The door opened.
A man in his forties, dressed in a casual suit, stepped out.
He approached Elder Xu, smiling, “Hello, Mr. Xu, I’m Zhang Zihao.”
This guy is Zhang Zihao? Ye Qiu sized him up: about 1.7 meters tall, short-cropped hair, dark skin, with a five-centimetre scar by his eye—a clear tough guy.
“Damn, War God’s looking for you, and you show up right in front of me? You’re asking for trouble,” Ye Qiu thought, secretly pleased.
“Welcome to my home, Mr. Zhang,” Elder Xu said with a smile.
“Mr. Xu, please have any police in your house come out,” Zhang Zihao said, testing if Elder Xu had called the authorities.
Elder Xu smiled, “I’ve been in business my whole life. I don’t have much special success, but one principle I hold is keeping my word. If you don’t believe me, Mr. Zhang, I can show you around my home.”
Zhang Zihao studied Elder Xu, then nodded, “Alright!”
Elder Xu led Zhang Zihao into the villa, even opening every room’s door to show his sincerity.
No police were present.
Zhang Zihao, satisfied, said, “Mr. Xu, your integrity is admirable.”
Elder Xu replied, “Mr. Zhang, can we talk now?”
“Of course.”
They all sat in the living room.
But just as Zhang Zihao settled in, the villa’s doorbell suddenly rang.
Miracle Doctor Chapter 860
The villa’s doorbell rang abruptly.
Zhang Zihao, like a startled lion, sprang up and sat close to Elder Xu.
His intent was clear: if anything went wrong, he’d take Elder Xu hostage immediately.
“Zhiming, go see who it is,” Elder Xu said, puzzled. Who could be visiting at this hour?
Xu Zhiming nodded and opened the door.
Outside stood a young man in a leather jacket, a gold chain around his neck, his hair dyed yellow.
“Who are you?” Xu Zhiming asked.
“I’m Brother Zhang’s driver,” the yellow-haired man said, craning his neck to peer into the living room. Spotting Zhang Zihao on the sofa, he shouted, “Brother Zhang, the traffic police won’t let me park at the gate, what do I do?”
Zhang Zihao cursed, “Damn it, you need to ask me about something so trivial? Have you got no brain?”
The yellow-haired man shrank back in fear and scurried off.
Xu Zhiming closed the villa door.
“Sorry, my subordinate’s incompetence made a fool of us, Mr. Xu,” Zhang Zihao said to Elder Xu.
“No matter,” Elder Xu smiled.
Zhang Zihao returned to his seat.
“Mr. Zhang, care for a drink?” Elder Xu asked politely.
“Whatever you like,” Zhang Zihao replied, surprised by Elder Xu’s congeniality.
“Zhiming, pour Mr. Zhang a glass of red wine,” Elder Xu instructed.
Xu Zhiming opened a bottle of Lafite in front of Zhang Zihao, pouring two glasses—one for Zhang Zihao, one for Elder Xu.
“Please!” Elder Xu gestured invitingly.
Zhang Zihao, cautious, didn’t drink immediately. He smiled and said, “Mr. Xu, after you.”
Knowing Zhang Zihao was wary, Elder Xu smiled, took a sip of his wine.
Only then did Zhang Zihao take a sip, closing his eyes in enjoyment. “As expected of Lafite—rich, smooth, with pronounced fruit notes, elegant and lingering, like a refined and gentle woman.”
Elder Xu was surprised, “Mr. Zhang knows his wine?”
“You may not know, Mr. Xu, but I dabbled in the red wine business in Hong Kong for a few years,” Zhang Zihao said, downing his glass. “Mr. Xu, as Korea’s richest man and a business paragon, I’ve always admired and envied you.”
Elder Xu smiled faintly, “No need for envy. In the business world, everyone has their chance.”
Zhang Zihao said, “Opportunities differ for everyone. I wanted to be a successful businessman, but I grew up poor and had little education.”
Elder Xu replied, “I only finished junior high myself.”
“But you had patience, Mr. Xu, rising from a humble worker to Korea’s richest man,” Zhang Zihao said, sighing. “There’s an old Chinese saying: a man’s life is like a blade of grass in autumn.”
“To us, a human life is less than a tree’s.”
“A tree can live for centuries, even millennia, but a man? Just a few decades. At twenty, you lack vision; at thirty, you lack means; by forty, your mind starts to decline.”
“I don’t have your patience, Mr. Xu, so I just want to scrape by.”
Elder Xu asked, “What kind of life do you want, Mr. Zhang?”
Zhang Zihao replied, “I don’t want to be poor, just stable.”
“Mr. Xu, today, on behalf of my brothers, I’m here to discuss Jin Changxu.”
“My brothers have no grand demands. They’ve suffered all their lives and just want a decent meal.”
As Elder Xu suspected, Zhang Zihao wanted money.
Relieved, Elder Xu said, “If money can solve it, it’s not a problem. Mr. Zhang, name your price.”
Zhang Zihao said, “Since you’re so courteous, Mr. Xu, I won’t be greedy. On behalf of my brothers, I’d like to borrow fifty billion RMB.”
Fifty billion!
Ye Qiu glanced at Zhang Zihao.
And that’s not being greedy?
Utterly insatiable.
Ye Qiu looked at Xu Zhiming, who remained completely calm, unfazed.
So composed?
Well, compared to Li Zhengxi’s demand for ten billion USD, fifty billion was nothing.
Elder Xu didn’t hesitate, agreeing immediately. “Fine, I’ll have the company’s finance team transfer the money to you, Mr. Zhang.”
Zhang Zihao shook his head, “No transfer, I want cash.”
Cash?
Elder Xu frowned, “Fifty billion is no small sum. I’m not sure if the bank can provide that much cash. Let me make a call to check.”
“Go ahead, I hope you can sort it quickly, Mr. Xu,” Zhang Zihao said. “The sooner this is resolved, the sooner Jin Changxu is out of danger.”
Elder Xu gave Xu Zhiming a look.
Xu Zhiming understood, pulling out his phone to call the bank.
After a while, Xu Zhiming said, “Father, the bank says they don’t have that much cash on hand. If we need it, they can prepare it in five days.”
Five days was too long!
Before Zhang Zihao could speak, Elder Xu instructed Xu Zhiming, “Tell the bank they must gather fifty billion RMB within three days.”
“Ten billion on the first day, twenty billion on the second, and twenty billion on the third.”
“Mr. Zhang, I’ll deliver the fifty billion in three days, is that acceptable?”
“Also, I have one million USD at home. You can take it when you leave, Mr. Zhang. I only ask that you tell your brothers not to harm Changxu.”
Zhang Zihao smiled, “Mr. Xu, you’re a straightforward man. I won’t intrude further, goodbye.”
He stood to leave.
“Zhiming, pack the cash at home for Mr. Zhang to take,” Elder Xu ordered.
“Yes!” Xu Zhiming replied, immediately making arrangements.
Elder Xu courteously escorted Zhang Zihao outside.
As they parted, Zhang Zihao shook Elder Xu’s hand, saying, “Mr. Xu, will you resent me for this?”
Elder Xu laughed, “You’re overthinking, Mr. Zhang. I often tell Zhiming to have the strength of a lion and the compassion of a Bodhisattva—to act with a lion’s strength and treat others with a Bodhisattva’s kindness.”
Zhang Zihao looked impressed, “Mr. Xu, truly Korea’s richest man. Your magnanimity is beyond my reach.”
“Mr. Xu, you keep your word, so I’ll keep mine.”
“I promise, once I have the money, my brothers and I won’t trouble you again.”
“Tomorrow, I’ll send a brother to collect the money.”
With that, Zhang Zihao turned to get into his car.
At that moment, a voice rang out, “Zhang Zihao, wait!”
