FEAST OF KINGS DEVOTIONAL
DATE: 8TH JANUARY 2025
THEME: INCREASE YOUR FAITH
TEXT: NUMBERS 14:26-39
THE POWER OF CHOICE
The choices a person makes governs his experiences on earth. Our choices whether negative or positive are manufactured by God into things we experience on earth.
What the Israelites experienced in transit to the promised land is our case study on the subject. Twelve men were sent as spies into the promised land. The way they think and speak sharply divided them into two groups.
We shall call them the negative group and the positive group. God came out with a fiat to deal with what each group chose to confess. This is the fiat Moses declared to the two groups. Say unto them, As truly as I live, says the LORD, as you have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you - Numbers 14:28.
God never wanted us to be like robots. He gave to each individual a volition or a will to help us make choices of what to think, what to say and what to do. You become responsible for the choice you make whether negative or positive.
The negative group said: Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! - Numbers 14:2. By what they said, they preferred dying in the wilderness and so they died.
The positive group who chose to still believe in God despite the challenges said: If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which flows with milk and honey - Numbers 14:8. Caleb and Joshua who formed the positive group got to the promised land as they have chosen and confessed.
God doesn't just listen to us. He listens to do for us what we choose to think, say or do. So the difference in the experiences of people lies in their choices. You either belong to the negative group to have negative choices, say negative things and experience them.
Or you belong to the positive group to make positive choices, say positive things and experience them. Your suffering or your enjoyment today was the choice you made in the past. So be careful in choosing what you think, what you say and what you do.
Know this, the choices you make today certainly become your experiences tomorrow.
Thank you for reading and may God bless you.
